What I took from Dolly's comment was, once you're made aware of something that you didn't realize was offensive, it's easy, right, and beneficial to change your behavior and not continue to act in an offensive manner or use an offensive word or phrase.

I'm guessing if Dolly had been in charge, and had the power to decide the fate of the confederate flag and monuments, she would have thought about how their presence affected those who had suffered under the confederacy and had them decommissioned long ago.

Those simple actions may well have helped alleviate some of the racial tension in the country and mitigate some of the expressions of anger.
