South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem getting $400,000 security fence around home to protect her

This woman is a piece of crap.

South Dakota officials said Wednesday they plan to build a security fence budgeted for $400,000 around the official governor's residence to protect Governor Kristi Noem. Noem's office did not give specifics on any threats, but her spokeswoman Maggie Seidel said her security team recommended the fence.
The South Dakota Republican has championed a hands-off approach to managing the coronavirus crisis. She also raised her national political profile in the past year, including tying herself more closely to President Donald Trump, who spoke at Mount Rushmore on the eve of Independence Day this year. Seidel said that Noem's handling of the pandemic had put her at odds with some people.

"More South Dakotans have died from accidental injuries than from #COVID19 in the past 5 months," she tweeted this week.

But in the last two weeks, South Dakota has recorded an increase in the percent of virus tests coming back positive -- and former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb warned that the virus has "become so pervasive across the country that it could start to infect more rural communities that have largely been untouched to date."

For securing her shit?? LOL

Oh noes someone taking responsibility for their own security!!! How horrible!!

Why does every example of self reliance and responsibility disgust leftist so much?

Self reliance with taxpayer money?

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Leaders using taxpayer dollars to wall themselves off from said taxpayers is an interesting new trend from "the party of Real Americans."

He’ll twist himself into a pretzel to continue arguing his dumb point. That we can count on.

nevermind that there is NO THREAT to her and that she's totally ignored her own state's covid issues.

I didn't see that part, my mistake.

She should pay for it.

when he argues dumb pionts, he wins dumb prizes.

Yet you never seem to get any in on me....hmmmm what's that say about you??

It's the Gov residence, so it's for all that come after her as Well

I'm sure she's scared of the pissed off Native Americans. After this whole Sturgis debacle, the Rosebud and Pine Ridge reservations are stirring. Not to mention the Standing Rock people are already organized and feed up with the whole administration. 9% of the population controls 12% of the land. Not to mention, Pierre is surrounded by reservations. Not unlike the rest of the state.

Im certainly not eluding to Native Americans turning violent, but it's part of the whole Republican mentality. Scared and cowering in bunkers and behind walls. Good thing they have their guns to protect them...

Ah well they made it seem like her private residence.

Nope...fuck that... the people pay for the public space.

Good thing....it's the only thing keeping the "peaceful" protesters as "peaceful" as they are.

This is the official governor's residence, not her private property. I see nothing wrong with providing security for it. Might look into whether the price tag is justified, but I have no reason to think it isn't.

It's Late-stage Capitalism at its finest.

Republicans have given up all pretense of attempting to help anyone but the richest 1%. hunkering in the bunker to avoid the sweaty masses.

Republicans see the end of the cash cow coming....gonna get one last hurrah for that big donor. Who gives a shit this will be the contractor's first job putting up fences

Security fence to be built around Governor’s Mansion following effigy, protests

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D)....

The state is taking bids for an ornamental security fence to be built around the Governor’s Mansion.

Jill Midkiff, a spokeswoman for the state Finance and Administration Cabinet, said Tuesday it is believed that Kentucky’s Governor’s Mansion may be the only Executive Mansion in the United States that currently does not have security fencing.

WAVE-TV in Louisville reported*that the Kentucky State Police executive security requested the fence for the Beshears and future first families who live in the mansion.

I don't begrudge a governor's mansion having ornamental fencing. I recall growing up in Georgia, lived somewhat close to the governor's mansion there and it had wrought iron fencing all around the property...

....and after 9/11 they put the state patrol manning the driveway gates in military fatigues and put up that coiled barbed wire you see at prisons all around the property. A right proper Fuhrerbunker.

If you guys want to stir things up this is hardly a major issue - unless you can show that a political donor got the contract for what is a fairly expensive barrier.

Without that - not worth pursuing.

She's afraid the Native Americans are going to scalp her for allowing covid-19 to get away from her.
