So, if I understand this news piece correctly, Trump declared that he would terminate social security and Medicare if reelected. As far as I know, the vast majority of Trump's elector are boomers, the kind of people that tend to suffer from chronic health issues.

So, American voters are going to vote en masse for a politician that told them squarely in their face that he would leave them penniless and homeless if they ever dare to get diabetes or heart problems (as almost everyone over 40 does).

Am I getting it right?

He only has the authority of Executive Actions, which Republicans complained about when Obama used them. But now...they support them...surprise surprise. There is literally nothing they won't torture into some beneficial narrative. Delaying the collection of the tax is as far as he can go, and as far as he went. Now congress can make employers and essential worker pay that up later by doing nothing or offer a tax break retroactively as they see fit and take the credit or blame as they do so.

The alternative to a tax holiday is to collect as per usual from one of the taxpayers pockets while simultaneously cutting him a stimulus check, paid for out of the taxes he pays, which go, not into a Social Security lockbox, but are simply revenue into the General Fund.

What I like about this idea is in theory and employer could give each employee a 15% bigger paycheck. If employees ever get a look at their actual.check without the Ponzi Scheme deducted, they might understand why provitization of -their- retirement money by -them- is better for -them-

Can you imagine how wealthy retirees would be if that had been done in Reagan's time? 15% of every check just into index funds? Instead of giving it to Uncle Ponzi to "keep it safe" for them?

So indirectly it could lead to change.

The Executive Order on housing doesn’t ban evictions. It states that the heads of HHS and CDC can determine whether a ban on evictions is necessary.

The thing that most people leave out of the Soc Sec discussion is that a portion of the funds collected include coverage for disability.

Eliminating or scaling back social programs has been the holy grail of the Republican Party for quite a while.

The same people that support golden parachutes for corporate criminals don't want the common person to have an umbrella when life rains on them.

It isn't hard to figure out.

For millions of common people to have any quality of life in difficult times, the wealthy would have to lower the quality of their lives. They are trying to do everything in their power to make sure that doesn't happen. Trump is a classic example of a wealthy person fucking over everyone else, just so he can literally sit(shit) on a golden throne(toilet).

Payroll taxes fund social security, and interrupting contributions to the program is a "test balloon" to see how much of an uproar it causes among the masses. If people just nod their heads and accept this thinly veiled attack on social security, it will give Trump and the GOP free license to make bolder moves against other government programs. If the electoral college re-elects Trump and the GOP holds the senate, expect to see more brinksmanship over cutting social programs and taxing the rich.
