Baby boomers show concerning decline in cognitive functioning

In a reversal of trends, American baby boomers scored lower on a test of cognitive functioning than did members of previous generations, according to a new nationwide study.

Findings showed that average cognition scores of adults aged 50 and older increased from generation to generation, beginning with the greatest generation (born 1890-1923) and peaking among war babies (born 1942-1947).

Scores began to decline in the early baby boomers (born 1948-1953) and decreased further in the mid baby boomers (born 1954-1959).

While the prevalence of dementia has declined recently in the United States, these results suggest those trends may reverse in the coming decades, according to study author Hui Zheng, professor of sociology at The Ohio State University.

“It is shocking to see this decline in cognitive functioning among baby boomers after generations of increases in test scores,” Zheng said.

Ok, so we're old and age tends to make one forgetful.

What's your excuse?

Derpy, I haven't forgotten anything. Did you forget that you're the WuHan Warrior and should be outside with no mask and letting people spit on you?

This is ‘the cognitive test Trump didn’t pass’: Internet reacts to president’s ‘shocking’ Axios interview

Last week, Axios political reporter Jonathan Swan teased his HBO interview with President Trump as “one of the most shocking exchanges” he’s ever had with him.

Now, with the whole thing having aired, what had been the signal “shock” moment — Trump’s claiming the intelligence that Russia was funding Taliban targeting of U.S. troops in Afghanistan never reached his desk — just seems to blend in with all the other stuff.

The exchange that gained the most traction on social media, where the chat went viral overnight, finds Trump talking about how his administration has done an “incredible” job of navigating the pandemic and how the outbreak is “under control” despite surging infection numbers.

There is some truth to this study tying older people to forgetfulness.
The computer irony alert alarm went off when D.A. accused others of being a moron when it's well known he's the biggest moron on the board, and for the life of me I can't remember how to turn the damn thing off.
The neighbors are starting to complain.

oj, the irony is admitting that you can't remember something in this particular thread

Cognitive superiority

You're not an ass, you're a filthy piece of shit.

Your skill at resorting to childish name calling must be a demonstration of your cognitive superiority. Very impressive.

As a side point: I am 44 so that puts me in the middle. I can only draw upon my own experience in communicating with those that are older and younger than me.

From my conversations I find that so called "boomers" are more rational and can discuss topics without resorting to name calling. The college age children that I talk to are typically on major ego trips. They are quick to call names. They offer no logical support for their views and get angry and talk over people that disagree.

I don't say that to be critical and I am not into painting with a broad brush. There are many bright young minds that can think and reason in a respectful way. But in general terms what I see with the younger generation is that they are spoiled and full of dope and unable to think and reason.

You're new here ( ) and are unaware of Derpy's incessant bullshit, lies, and nonsense. He's the guy who constantly calls people "idjits" (whatever that is). Now, fuck off, newb.

Pay him no mind his mental pathology is associated with an inferiority complex arising from his short stature. He's probably been this way from his early childhood when everyone grew up except him. I'm told he was the equal of every other 9 year old in the neighborhood, but when every other kid his age were seeing new and bigger pairs of shoes, his remained the same. When other boys his age were playing baseball, he was the team mascot. His biggest fear are crowds and shopping at Costco where his diminutive stature places him in danger of being tripped over or kneed in the chest moving through the lines. He's troubled by painful bouts Cervical spondylosis from spending his life having to look up at people. In short he's seen a lot of butts in his day and he's angry about it and likes to take it out on normal people. Science has shown that vertically-challenged males are more dangerous than regular men and more apt to aggressive behavior. They like to attack from behind but back down when confronted. A word to the wise.:D;)

In one post, you've put more thought into me than I have you over several years. :D:rolleyes:

Just trying to help a new member understand the pathology behind your lack of anger management and possible motivations behind your obloquial outbursts towards other members.:D

You did read this part didn't you?

..."The same might be true for following generations unless we find a solution for the problems found here, he said."...

Make fun of it while you can still remember to.

My company contracts a company to drive us from here to there. It's normally a retirement job for some older people, so, Ive worked with a lot of baby boomers as a result. Overwhelming majority are dumb as rocks. We often wonder how they made it this far in life. However, a few have been some of the coolest people I've ever ment. It's fantastic to hear their life stories! If they can remember, of course.
