I think it is very common

I know that it is common in the Bible. Abraham is one of he highly regarded men in the Bible and his wife Sarah was his half sister. The faithful man "Lot" got both of his daughters pregnant. There are genetic reasons to be concerned about breeding with close relatives but otherwise what difference does it make? It seems to just be that some societies have human taboos that somehow turn into laws in many areas.

But if there was no social pressure there would be a lot more of it. I know I have done it but it is a hush hush topic.

Well yeah, breading in closed relatives can bring a lot issues in offsprings. just like other taboos its also there.
And as you mentioned it will be a lot in existence if no social hush is around.

Technically its not incest, but I have ben in a physical relationship with my step daughter since she turned 18. She's 29 now. Like I said, not incest, technically. But definitely that type of taboo.
