So, my first story I put in the wrong category. I’m new and it was an error. Is there anyway to change that? Is it frowned upon to delete a story and re-post it in the right category?

Resubmit it with exactly the same title plus the word EDIT, resubmit the whole text, add a Note to the Editor that you'd like a category change.

It will get low priority, probably won't be done before it falls off the category front page, and Laurel might veto your category choice anyway. But that's how you do it, treat it as an edit - all scores and comments remain unchanged.

Thanks! I posted it a while ago. I don't know why I'm letting it bother me so much, but it is...

Two of my stories originally posted to categories that Laurel felt were the wrong fits. It happens. Don't obsess.

You live and learn. That's what writing is all about. Good luck with the republication and new category.

Category regret, I've had a few :(

I've also had Laurel redirect a couple of mine after I submitted. In one case it turned out she knew my story better than I did

I've had a long-running thought about a category change I made and still don't know if it was correct. I get very good scores just not that many views. Mostly I accept the kinds of stories I enjoy reading and writing don't fit in the heaviest-viewed categories so just go with feels right.

Welcome to our weird little world, Wilasue. We make mistakes, we get hugs and we carry on. It’s learning in the Lit lane. Perhaps you might consider posting a link to your story so we can rubberneck more appropriately. Cheers.
