In a group of 1542 hospitalized patients treated with hydroxychloroquine, 25.7% had died after 28 days, compared with 23.5% in a group of 3132 patients who had only received standard care. “These data convincingly rule out any meaningful mortality benefit,” wrote the investigators, who ended the study early and promised to publish the full results as soon as possible.“

Any therapeutic that lowers the impact of Covid will be welcomed.

The beauty of science is that it allows for flexibility of thought, like considering a cholesterol lowering drug as a Covid treatment.

Obviously, it takes time to identify effective therapeutic candidates that can be used to treat the general population with minimal negative side effects.

Unfortunately, the scientific community wasted so much time and resources on "Hydroxychloroquine" that more effective treatments probably got delayed. Gee, I wonder whose fault that is.

This new treatment still has to be vetted, but the underlying science makes perfect sense. At present it is just a theory and like every other treatment, it will require clinical trials to prove its safety and efficacy before it can be widely prescribed for treatment of Covid.

I never tried that one but the cholesterol lowering drugs I tried made me so sick I couldn't tolerate them for 5 days.
