The BLM protests in Portland have been a bit unusual -- the protesters show up, peaceably protest, then go home. These are people exercising their first amendment right to peaceably assemble and petition the government for change. They're getting their message out and everybody is generally supportive.

Then there's "agitators", who stick around late and get violent. Nobody wants them around. If the federal goon squad wanted to take them on, fine. But no, they shoot some guy standing across the street holding a speaker over his head. Those federal officers must be wusses if they were scared enough of that guy to shoot him.

No, this is all about Trump needing to distract people from his failed leadership around this pandemic -- what better way than to foment a riot someplace (preferably far away from Washington DC). Sending in some federal officers with orders to rough up some of the peaceable protesters, is a good way to accomplish that.

Word play, The POTUS #1 constitutional responsibility is the defense of our country from enemies both foreign or domestic. Somehow JAFO's false equivalency of redirecting funds from a police department upholding law and order to mental health capability is the same as moving defense spending from one area of the defense budget to another where the purpose of the move is national defense. No-one is in disagreement that homelessness and mental health have devolved over the years and requires some strategic attention but not at the expense of law and order. Chicago needs to declare war on both. If Lighthouse would work with Trump she could have all sorts of funding and resources to take back the streets, but then, that, in her mind, would give Trump an attaboy and that's failure to tow the progressive line.
