There seems to be a correlation between Covid deniers and CTE deniers, and it seems the reasons are very similar.
Covid deniers are often stock traders who are heavily invested(no pun intended) in the market and are willing to risk people's health for the sake of profits.
CTE deniers are often sports gamblers who are willing to risk players health to win a bet.
I have known sports bettors who got apoplectic when it was announced that a key player( or players) would be sitting out due to a concussion after they had already placed their bet, and would argue that the risks of serious injury if the player took the field were minimal. They would go to great lengths to discredit the medical professionals who provided the scientifically verified analysis and guidance. Just like Covid denying stock traders get apoplectic when new Covid restrictions are announced. They start minimizing the risks of Covid and attack the medical professionals. They even rail against something as minor as wearing a mask.
Both groups are correct that if you take people's health into consideration, the teams season or the stock market will suffer.
There are definitely legitimate reasons to open parts of the economy up, but when certain people start going to extremes to discredit the science, you definitely have to question their motives and agendas.
