Bari Weiss resigns from New York Times, slams Twitter as being their ‘ultimate editor’

New York Times praises 'cancel culture' but skips over own racist history
Twitter removes New York Times photo from Trump tweet
The New York Times' metro section mysteriously disappeared
The intolerant 'Church of Wokeness' and other commentary
New York Times opinion writer Bari Weiss publicly quit her job on Tuesday — and blamed a management decision to make Twitter the paper’s “ultimate editor.”

In a nearly 1,500-word resignation letter posted on her personal website, Weiss said the paper was choosing to “satisfy the narrowest of audiences, rather than to allow a curious public to read about the world and then draw their own conclusions.”

“Twitter is not on the masthead of The New York Times. But Twitter has become its ultimate editor,” she wrote.

“As the ethics and mores of that platform have become those of the paper, the paper itself has increasingly become a kind of performance space.”

Maybe she'll work for the WSJ and get a fair shake. NYT's becoming ** Ft Cancel ** unless that name is found to be racist by the cancel mob!

https://www.bariweiss.com/resignation-letter: A chilling synopsis of cancel culture from within, insight as to why fake news is fake news!

"My own forays into Wrongthink have made me the subject of constant bullying by colleagues who disagree with my views. They have called me a Nazi and a racist; I have learned to brush off comments about how I’m “writing about the Jews again.” Several colleagues perceived to be friendly with me were badgered by coworkers. My work and my character are openly demeaned on company-wide Slack channels where masthead editors regularly weigh in. There, some coworkers insist I need to be rooted out if this company is to be a truly “inclusive” one, while others post ax emojis next to my name. Still other New York Times employees publicly smear me as a liar and a bigot on Twitter with no fear that harassing me will be met with appropriate action. They never are."

"Part of me wishes I could say that my experience was unique. But the truth is that intellectual curiosity—let alone risk-taking—is now a liability at The Times. Why edit something challenging to our readers, or write something bold only to go through the numbing process of making it ideologically kosher, when we can assure ourselves of job security (and clicks) by publishing our 4000th op-ed arguing that Donald Trump is a unique danger to the country and the world? And so self-censorship has become the norm."

"The paper of record is, more and more, the record of those living in a distant galaxy, one whose concerns are profoundly removed from the lives of most people. This is a galaxy in which, to choose just a few recent examples, the Soviet space program is lauded for its “diversity”; the doxxing of teenagers in the name of justice is condoned; and the worst caste systems in human history includes the United States alongside Nazi Germany."

Considering her whole career has been based on trying to cancel anyone critical of Israel, I find it hilarious.

Obviously you don't understand the difference between cancel and opinion.

I was today years old when I learned that quitting a job is the same thing as being "canceled."

Basically she's pissed because people were being nasty to her on Twitter and the NYT wouldn't defend her. Snowflakey.

Yeah, it's no fun being criticized in public, something most journalists totally understand when they enter the business.

This tantrum — an open letter resignation is almost always eye-rollingly stupid — is very funny coming from someone whose entire brand is "everyone should talk openly and honestly about controversial subjects, and be willing to take the heat."

When a news platform objects to free thinkers or conservative viewpoints then it's mission has changed from objective journalism to the equivalent of state sponsored left wing propaganda absent the challenges of controversial opinion or thought that keeps them honest delivering to the people a product that is fair and balanced. NYT, CNN, WAPO, MSNBC and a few others have become the mouthpiece of the democratic party all marching in lockstep lacking any semblance of independent thought. If in 2020, with this immense advantage of the lame street media, the dems loose it will be a testament to how off the rails the democratic party has become, how it has veered hard left of where the american people are.

To call NYT journalism is a stretch. I haven't found one positive article on Trump kind of says something of how and what they report.

Being bullied in the workplace is not the same as public scrutiny.

She worked on the op-ed page, not the news section.

That's my point. News is maybe factual and is stand alone requiring no explanation, op-ed on the other hand is opinion, which, if you have a culture of ..group think.. you're canceled or harassed or bullied for not towing the line.

The NYT has quickly manifested itself as a "cult" rag. Fit only to take up space next to the Nat'l Enquirer at supermarkets checkouts.

Bari Weiss didn't impress me by dismissing Tulsi as an "Assad toady," without evidence to back that or even knowing the definition of the word toady. Maybe now, however, she's starting to think for herself? I'm not holding my breath.

Communists and the Radical Left pushing out the genuine Liberals.

Good fun!

Well, if you consider an op-ed of a sitting US senator not doing your job, well slap my knee and cancel me out!

Bennet didn't even read the piece. As the editor, that was his fucking job.

Shon and wrong have endorsed cancel culture since way back... before it was cool.

Let's rewrite history.

But one is englush, so...

The New York Times is an abomination.

Inside sources indicate that it is actively run by communists.
