Lost on those that want to appease lawless mobs is that law enforcement is first and foremost a public safety need. Yes, it is bastardized as a taxing agency for revenue enhancement and individual cops can and do engage in power trips, but traffic law exists to save lives, ostensibly.

Driving past roadblocks just to kill protesters isn't a heroic act. Killing people for being annoying and disruptive isn't a moral act.

It appears he thought he had found a way around the blockade on the highway. He would have succeeded in getting wherever he was going by highway if there hadn't been scattered people filming from a but if a distance from the others.

Video showed that a white car travelling at high speed navigated around two vehicles positioned across lanes as a barrier. The car then careened towards a small crowd of protesters on the freeway, striking two who flew into the air and landed on the ground.

Mark Taylor-Canfield, a journalist, said the car had plenty of time to slow down before smashing into the protesters. “It sped up and went right into the middle of the crowd, so most of us assumed it was a purposeful attempt at vehicular homicide.” He said he had been in the adjacent lane to the protesters who were hit.

Multiple witnesses are suggesting it. Whether true or not, if you'd driven through a roadblock, wouldn't you be driving slow and wary?

IF it's deliberate, I can think of a few motives. It was a women's march, and high on lesbian acceptance.
A link was posted here last week, to a video on YouTube. Some incredibly angry woman, who was mortally offended that the founders of BLM were lesbians, and stating that they want the straight black man to be deleted. Apparently, if you don't crave cock you want straight men to go gay or die. It's got plenty of positive responses from the rabidly homophobic. I can imagine one of those people doing something like that.

I only saw it once, not something anyone should want to see twice. It looked to me like he was accelerating after he would have thought he cleared the roadblocks. Police said he expressed concern about those he hit. He pulled away from the crowd, but stopped and waited for police.

I agree that it would be negligent not to slow with people anywhere nearby. People are not slalom comes. Not even dumb people.

Your speculation does give at least a plausible motive. I hadn't heard that offered. I had heard racist offered. . .until they found out he was Black and went radio silent.
