Morning Eargasm: An Audio Thread

There have been a few audio threads on Lit over the past few years – all with a slightly different flavor. I’m excited to see what path this one takes.

I think the Q&A format works best. On this thread, I’ll post a question a few days a week for you to record your answers and post – not every day because that would likely be too much to keep up with listening and contributing. I’m happy to receive any question suggestions via PM as well.

Originally found the site looking for the stories, but came to the forums to find a very specific discussion about some things I was trying to figure out at the time. That was successful to an extent, but much harder than I expected.

Now, I'm taking it a little less seriously as I've found a few people to talk to about nothing in particular or whatever is important to them, or common between us. Let it be whatever it will be.

I work on my own, a mix of creative and technical. One day I'm coding, the next drawing or painting, next im writing a song. Hobbies are much the same as work, but I try to pick the guitar up as much as I can (if only to avoid the blisters of unused fingers).

Plans are difficult these days when I never know what day it is... it's friday, really?!

Did you ever think maybe people wanted an audio thread that wasn't run by a complete cunt?

If people want a thread run by someone who can't understand why her old thread failed, then do that one. Someone saw a need to make an audio thread not run by someone with their head up their ass.

If you want to know why people think you're cliquey, it's this shit right here. You are so slow to call out bitchy, unaware behaviour within your own pack.

Go read the thread where it was asked if there was interest in a new one. People voiced their opinions. Several people noted it seemed unwelcoming. That was met with snark and the self-importance and delusion one would expect.

What's so wrong with two threads?

Because she never participated in the old thread, she knew Avery wanted to create a new one, and she enthusiastically encouraged her to do so and then did it herself instead.

At least with Litiquette, you took over the old thread when it was abandoned and started your own when he came back. That's not what happened here.

Also... fuck you.

Again, people voiced that they wanted the audio thread minus the cuntiness. It was apparent that the cuntiness would persist due to the inability to curb her bullshit. So a new one was created.

Say fuck you all you want. I'm one of the only people who can actually shoot straight with you. But you girls always get upset when people say you're a clique. This is why. Have you ever thought about how bitchy your friend's responses are? How about calling her out on that? Instead, you girls stick together regardless of behaviour. It's literally Mean Girls.

If Avery hadn't replied like an ass, I bet this thread would not exist.

I try to let things like this go, but I suppose it needs to be addressed.

Fara - I appreciate you acknowledging that there is room for multiple threads. No matter how you feel about my actions, I appreciate that you started from a logical place.

Fara & Indie (and Avery) - The creation of this isn't meant to be mean or shady. I didn't call it "The" audio thread, as though it is the only one. Yes, I did respond that I wanted Avery to resurrect her thread. After I posted that, it dawned on me that it seemed weird to ask people. If you want a thread - make it. She seemed wishy-washy with several no's and after a bit of conflict arose regarding why it may have died in the first place - it seemed to me that there was a need/want for a thread of a different feel.

Everyone - People have mentioned that they felt other threads were a bit clique-y. I think that's unavoidable when groups of friends post together, but starting fresh seems to be a way to provide a more welcoming place. To Indie’s point, I actually did participate several times in Avery’s thread. The fact that that isn't known could be because I'm forgettable or a testament to the tunnel-vision of cliques. Who’s to say?

People have mentioned that politics and disrespectful comments made them uncomfortable. Avery made it clear that she was not willing to make a "no politics" stance (her right) but that seems like a easy solution that has been made in other threads and that I made for this thread.

I appreciate those who have posted here and PM'd about participating. And I look forward to hearing you all (and yes, the accents too Daisy!)

Avery is outspoken, opinionated, and blunt. Kinda like someone else I know who everyone calls a dick. Do you know him? I am/was your friend as much as hers, but the biggest cunt move I've seen is this thread. If you fail to see THAT, I guess it's easy to tell whose part of your fucking clique. Right?

For the record, it doesn't matter if it was Avery's thread or not. It would have been a mean girl next door thing to do this to anyone.

Avery is opinionated, blunt and whatever. Absolutely. But if I ask a question and someone tells me I’m being a dick, I don’t act like that’s completely unfathomable. I’m aware I can be a dick. That’s the difference. Several people noted she made them feel unwelcome in her thread. She didn’t seem moved by it. Which is fine. It’s her thread. But she was not self aware enough to even consider that her behaviour is the reason. And she posted a thread asking if a thread should be made. Just make the fucking thread.

I do fail to see this as a cunt move. Why? Because it’s a thread. On a sex forum. Not because I know or like the OP. If she acted like a cunt I would tell her so. But this is a forum. Where multiple threads can be created. Where multiple ideas can be shared. Please indicate how this affects Avery’s ability to start a thread.

Have Avery start the thread. You, PLP, Fara, Avery and Alpine can all lick each other’s asses and tell each other how awesome you all are in audio form. When Avery shares her disdain for this or that political issue, you can tell each other how brave she is. Then, you can all get on Skype and bitch about each other behind their backs.

We are friends, but I think it’s laughable you can’t fathom telling Avery to consider that her thread is dead because of her. Instead, you choose to bitch at someone else for starting a thread like the one she wants to start. Avery wanted everyone to tell her to start it and how awesome it was. Some people felt that way. Some people felt alienated. It’s quite simple, really.

At this point, you all have heard the clique thing enough. You all are either daft or you just choose not to believe it. It would be like me not thinking I’m a dick sometimes.

I’ll ask again, how does this hinder Avery and her thread? What effect does this thread’s existence have on her starting one? Avery probably doesn’t even care. She’s smart and capable.

It doesn't prohibit anyone from starting another thread, but it's redundant and I doubt anyone wants that. Even if Avery did start one, it wouldn't change how this was a mean girl thing to do.
