I have always ignored haters and naysayers. A glass half full sort.

But there has been a steady drum beat of unrest for many years; those g7 g8 antiglobal protests years ago, a large chunk of the “shithole countries” becoming increasingly anti american, financial and cultural problems from the mass migration of the poor to countries with better living standards and so on.

Now a pandemic economic crisis social upheaval with the usa brought to its knees.

Is this the big ugly thing all those angry people have been predicting?

I'm generally optimistic, but it's hard lately. There are a LOT of issues. I still Love my country. While acknowledging its problems, I will never kneel like a pussy. I will stand straight and strong and face them like a true American. I think the solution lies in a return to conservative values. I don't see many good conservative leaders, though. I. mean, young, smart, patriotic. I really should look into Mr. Crenshaw. I've always liked Trey Gowdy, but I don't know if he's interested, I'd like to learn more about Tulsi Gabbard.

I have visited the US twice and have lots of friends there, but I am an Aussie. 60 years ago our First Nations People were classed under the 'Flora and Fauna' Act. They were not counted in censuses or able to vote. This changed in 1967. Post War migration has had a huge impact on our country. Politicians would have us believe we have a 'huge' refugee crisis, but we also have space for a larger population. Infrastructure would need to catch up. I am a progressive at heart. I believe in equality. I see so many examples of inequality from 60 years ago (we are talking pre contraceptive pill here) that I think it would be a disaster to return to those types of values.

I'm a dreamer, also. But we have different dreams. I don't subscribe to the one world concept. There are cultural, political and socio-economic difference. Some can be reconciled, others cannot(sadly). I think we share the dream of a peaceful and equitable world.
