President Donald Trump led a discussion Thursday in Dallas on race and policing that excluded the three top law enforcement officials in the county – a police chief, sheriff and district attorney who all are black – and that felt much like a campaign rally, albeit far smaller than usual and with everyone seated.

The president drew cheers time and again from hundreds of supporters at Gateway Church as he forcefully rejected complaints about widespread police brutality and mocked “radical efforts to defund, dismantle and disband the police.”

I believe Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall is a little preoccupied at the moment.

With protesters still on the streets calling for reform, Dallas and North Texas residents called on the Dallas City Council to cut its police department’s budget, stop using tear gas on protestors, lift a citywide curfew and ask for Police Chief U. Renee Hall’s resignation at a specially called meeting Friday.

Those demands came during hours of public comments that follow days of protesting against police brutality and systemic racial inequalities during which Dallas police sparked criticism for their use of violence against demonstrators. While residents gave their names neither the city council speakers nor the livestream spelled them out.

Too funny! S'up with all you 'muricans getting your knickers in a twist?
Fire the police board, put a commissioner in place to oversee the hiring and training of a diverse police board/service and have an independent police review board to deal with citizens complaints against police. Have an investigation everytime a gun is fired by a police officer. Charge and try any 'bad apple' cops in the same manner a civilian would be charged and tried for the same crime.
It's not about removing or flooding streets with police officers, ffs.
But until you have the federal laws and not state laws and guns aren't more popular than cell phones I think you're kind of fucked.

Oh they can't do what Canada does, hell we even put cops in jail for killing our citizens illegally, (just google Sammy Yatim)....definitely not the American way...
