Tue, 09 Jun 2020 18:57:16 -0400
The Trump administration on Tuesday overturned an Obama-era rule that barred hunters in Alaska national preserves from baiting bear traps or killing denning...

Don Jr. want to bag a baby grizzly before Biden takes over in January. I'm sure he already has a baby seal mounted in his "man" cave.

These fuckers have no soul.

In herd maintenance you eliminate the youngest of the species? Interesting.

I am a hunter, in a hunting community and in a state that spends as much
or more, and proudly so, on conservation. Our herd populations are very
high because we do practice proper herd management through "Scientific"
culling by hunters which prevents the transmission of disease, starvation
and reduces negative interactions between human activities such as
farming and enjoying nature activities and and actual wildlife.

You are the one here displaying a profound misunderstanding
of the role of hunting, as did the Obama Administration...

Bears are not soft and cuddly by nature
and wolf packs are not pet-able and nice.

We reintroduced Wapiti here and to keep their numbers in check and healthy
we also imported their natural predator, wolves. The wolf population must be
maintained or they will not have enough elk to feast on and turn to cattle and
pets such as the family dog.

Ignorance of herd maintenance
should never be the basis of a political attack...

:(

i used to think that you are just ignorant. now, i think the problem runs much deeper than that. don't bother with a reply, you're going on ignore.

No respectable hunter goes after denning animals whether it's legal or not. Don't foresee it having a huge impact.
Not sure of the baiting thing. It's legal in most places I know of and I didn't look into Alaska so maybe they got a reason to not do it.

I've been on a bear hunt and we baited. There's like a season for it and shit. I did a cursory look into Alaska and the issue seems to be mostly about cubs. Not sure why people hunt cubs to begin with. Like that's just being an asshole. Never even met a hunter who would do that. I again tried to find out but only found vague answers. Maybe I'll look more later but I'll probably forget about this before then.

Wolves and coyotes are different. Fuck them. I know everyone is all like "but wolves are so cuddly and shit." Yeah. You go with that.

If Trump abolished this rule then its because he found a way to make a buck at it. It has nothing to do with conservation, respect for animals or anything else. Its all about the money.

That one has to hurt...but he will pretend he is an expert in Conservation too.

Doesn't matter...EVERYTHING THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS DONE WILL BE REVERSED. History will be like some of the Egyptian pharaohs...eliminated totally from the records.

To Riot or Not to Riot

I am vehemently opposed the Trump Administration's environmental policies and federal lands policies.

Unlike the Left, Far Left, and Radical Left my opposition has nothing to do with his demeanor but, instead, with policies.

Instead of destroying a nearby store or small business, I contact my representatives and contact the White House. through available channels. I also support environmental groups and wildlife organizations.

Unfortunately, this approach does NOT net me a 58" smart TV or luxury time piece. That kinda sucks.

Dude, you're full of shit. You said something dumb, own it. How many baby bears have you hunted?

The people pretending to be conservation experts
in the name of appeasing the anti-gun, anti-hunting
Progressive Left are the ones whose policies were reversed...

And they may be reversed again, but like 2016,
I truly think y'all are going about it all wrong again.
You don't just call people names and then pat yourself
on the back smugly full of pride for winning the argument.
This is exactly how y'all got Trump elected, the people you talk at,

didn't vote for him, but against you.
Accusing everyone you don't agree with as being a Trump supporter isn't much better.

While so many of you are fighting tooth, nail and claw over which ancient white guy
is best for leading the nation, I'll be voting for the woman in the race...

Oh my, look who is virtue signalling this morning! Or as Conager calls it, "virtual signaling".

lack of basic humanity and empathy should never be the basis of a person's response.

This is about THE most stupid thing I've read on Lit yet. And anyone who's been here longer than 2 weeks knows how stupid some of the shit here can get.

Empathy is NOT a sound decision-making basis when it comes to conservation or preserving wild animal welfare and habitat. There are ALWAYS compromises that have to be made and sometimes those choices come down to what seems cruel or terrifying to those who have no true understanding of the big picture versus what's good for the species and planet.

For example, there's a colony of penguins on an island near the equator. Every few years El Nino shows up and the fish population declines. When that happens, the penguins die of starvation. This is the natural cycle.

Under the "empathy first" approach, ALL fishing EVERYWHERE should be banned in order to ensure that the penguins survive. Except that won't work because fish in the Atlantic aren't close enough to help the penguins survive. Nor are the fish in Japan. Or Australia.

Once people realize that, the "empathy first" approach would have us catch fish for the penguins and feed them so they don't starve. Lots of fish. To the point that we'd deplete the oceans of them while penguins thrive and overpopulate their island.

Taken to the extreme, eventually ALL the fish everywhere will be gone and the penguins will begin starving once more. At that point we will too.

Sound wildlife management practices require an understanding of the big picture. Those who lead with their heart and never go beyond that point have no idea about the big picture.

Mornin' Timbits. Are you saying "empathy" has no place in modern society, then?

Personally, I'm thinking a complete lack of empathy is what got America's police department in the mess they're in right now.

The empathetic used the Polar Bears as a sympathy ploy
to promote the politics of Glow Ball Warning because all
of their ice was going to melt and they were all going to
perish and to make that claim, they had to ignore the
growing population numbers of the polar bear community.

This, once again, is turning nature's most
vicious top-of-the-food chain predators,
into the cast of Winnie-the-fucking-Pooh...

Helpless victims of RW ideology and bloodlust.

So, you mention sound practice and knowledgeable decisions and compromises here. You obviously and not talking about trump:D:D

Good morning fukwits. No, I'm saying that if all you have is "empathy" you're going to fuck yourself as well as the rest of the planet.

Ask yourself this; how do you think veterinarians learn what animal diseases and injuries look like? Do you think that they all learn from videos and films from pre-modern history?

Or do you think it's more likely that they have animal subjects who are suffering from those diseases and injuries on hand to observe and treat?

If so, wouldn't that be "cruel" to make those animals continue to suffer just so some select few people can graduate from Veterinarian College and go on to be "rich"?
