Was the first day on the Job at The company I work at now.

It started out as a summer Job in the old Industrial/Mill and Automotive Supply Division.

I started out at a Honking $1.95 an hour.:nana:

Three more years and I am Quitting!

And I don't care if it harelips every dog in the great state of Texas!

There is one person that has been there longer than me and not by much.

I laughed when I was called and asked if I knew what the big drain cover lead to in the floor of one the buildings.

I advised them that it was probably a storm drain entrance that ran from one end of the plant to the other.

"IT 'S WHAT?

Yes, my father was in Utility maintenance and I remember telling about how they would have to walk it out and make sure it was clear and still in good shape.

"I did not know that!"

They had laid off the only people that knew where all that sort of stuff was there is no prints.

I started full-time work in one of Her Majesty's Dockyards on 1st October 1962 - just in time for the panic caused by the Cuban Missile Crisis when I found that as the newest officer I was considered expendable and would stay above ground to watch for nuclear explosions while my bosses were 300 feet underground in a bunker.

I gave me a true sense of perspective about how useful I wasn't...

I'd had four different employers by the time I graduated from college.

hey ...

June 6, 1973.
I was doing 35 days for a second charge of Possession of Marijuana. I would add two more charges of Simple Possession to my official record before I stopped smoking pot across the street from the county jail.

Yeah, about 5 minutes into any branch of the military is a good way to find out just how insignificant you are.

:)
How would you know?

I know you are divorced at least 3 times. Did they leave because they couldn't handle your drive for success? Probably not, they just didnt want to be married to a janitor anymore.

June 6th, 1973 I was at Fort Lewis Washington starting to understand exactly that and wondering why in the hell I'd signed up for another 3 years of it. When you're young, some think that's not so, that the world revolves around us. A few years after I left the Army I had a boss give me a demonstration on that subject.

I forget exactly how the conversation started, but he had me stick my hand in a bucket of water and pull it out as fast as I could.

"See the hole you left in the water? That's how indispensable any of us are."
