CHICAGO — Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said the city will not tolerate vigilantism after groups of mostly white men patrolled the streets of the Bridgeport neighborhood on Wednesday night in response to a nearby city protest.

One of those groups needs to go knock on the mayor's door at 2 am and ask to use the bathroom.
 
A town not too far from my place in Idaho was being patrolled by armed citizens many taced out and carrying ARs, standing in front of businesses and patrolling the streets with a "not in our town" attitude. People may not realize it but Idaho is a vast arms depot.;)

Yeah, I read about that.

Turns out those people were played, and there never was any threat.

I like how those peoples lives were upended even though no rioters were even there.

These events are affecting everyone, whether they recognize it or not.

I wonder if those people will jump every time they get a dubious Facebook alert in the future.

Kinda sucks to be living in constant fear.

There was no fear, businesses were open, sidewalk cafes were busy and the atmosphere was jovial. Antifa isn't going to show up in the face of an armed populace. They're cowards. A simple resolve was demonstrated.

I guess if mobilizing for an imaginary invasion is the new normal in Idaho, then so be it.

They sure seemed worried about something.
 
The meedeeuh and establishment are trying to give the impression that the vast majority of the public 1. believe the absurd narrative that both the Floyd incident was racially motivated and that police go around killing "unarmed black people just because they are black;" and 2. that most people overwhelmingly feel the origianal incident is a bigger story than the riots and civil insurrection.

I do not believe, or at least, don't want to believe either one of those things are true. If so, this country is more hopelessly lost that I even imagined. And, no, don't bother trotting out some poll saying that's the case. Obviously any poll on this right now is clearly suspect.

For perspective, Lightfoot also told Trump 'F...U' during a press briefing last week

"Obviously we're aware of the fact that Illinois is a concealed carry state, and that many people have weapons at their disposal in their homes and their businesses," Lightfoot responded. "Do not take matters into your own hands. Call the police."

"Do not pick up arms and try to be the police. If there's a problem, call 911. We will respond," Lightfoot said before adding, "I urge people to show strength and do not take matters into your own hands."

Chicago's 911 center received 65,000 calls in one 24-hour period over the weekend — 50,000 more than normal, Lightfoot said Monday, according to WTTW-TV.

"The police department was responding as best they could," Lightfoot said, WTTW reported. "The challenge was, it was everywhere. Everywhere. The violence and looting spread like a wildfire."
