We Can't All Just Get Along
It's time to admit it. After pre-civil war slavery and post civil war discrimination, there is just too much bad blood between the races to think social harmony will ever be attained.
I'm a white guy and I can admit that if the black race in America had done to my ancestors what the white race has done to theirs, they would be right to be afraid of me. I can also admit that they would be stupid not to be distrustful of my intentions in many situations.
I might do things to justify their fear and suspicion; like celebrating if a white man got away with murdering his black ex-wife in a rich black neighborhood, or rioting and looting over a white man being killed by a black cop, then shrugging my shoulders when a black cop was killed by a violent white criminal. They might see the murdered black ex-wife and the black cop as innocent victims and be disgusted by my apparent advocacy of murder and lawlessness. I might see the same events as retroactive justice for all the atrocities perpetrated against my ancestors.
Some black people might even recognize the historical hypocrisy and attempt to appease the white community by helpimg elect the first white president, which might not go over too well with many in the black community, and a movement might be started to quash the uppity white folk.
The greater black community might be motivated even further by the fact that their precious black children are listening to militant white rage metal on their iPods, and are starting to talk, dress, and act like their white peers. They might see their children's behavior as a very real threat to their entire culture.
In an act of what they believe to be cultural self preservation, they might elect an obvious black supremacist to help entrench black dominance in all aspects of society through judicial appointments, tax legislation, and other social policies.
The white community might not be blind to the greater black communities actions, and their attempt to return to the "good old days" causing some in the white community to become more militant, leading to more rioting, looting, and violence when an injustice takes place, which leads to more policing, which leads to...... No chance of racial harmony.
