After several nights of violent rioting over the death of George Floyd in police custody, the release of preliminary findings from the medical examiner's autopsy will likely not ease the nationwide tensions.

The findings were included in the charges made Friday against Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who arrested Floyd and kneeled on his neck before he died Monday evening.

"The autopsy revealed no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation," read the summary of the findings from the the Hennepin County medical examiner.

"Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease. The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by the police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death," it concluded.

Another COVID-19 death then.

Potential intoxicants? What kind of autopsy doesn’t find intoxicants if they’re there?

"I can't breathe"

Heart attack. Cops should still be fired. Negligence. You call for an ambulance immediately.

Nods.

That's what it says when they billed Medicaid for his ambulance ride and resuscitation efforts. Probably hooked 'im up to a ventilator. You know, just in case.

All of the preliminary kind.

Not enough time. But we'll throw that skunk out there just in case.

They are awaiting toxicology screens on the cops as well. SOP.

Regardless of the autopsy, the man was still in distress and he needed help. It doesn't change my mind about the actions of the policeman, a bad cop.

Agreed. All cops have at minimum fist aid training. Shortest of breath you call nine-one-one immediately. Even leaving him prone and cuffed up while you're waiting for the ambulance is negligence.

True enough, and he has 18(?) prior complaints on file. But that doesn't change the fact that even a 3rd degree conviction is going to be tough to get given these facts.

The problem here is likely a strong Democrat political machine in bed with the police union. Some of those complaints were excessive use of force. Not every complaint is valid but it's hard to rack up that many with courteous professionalism.

Is he an equal opportunity asshole, or does he have a history of going hard with black suspects exclusively. It would help diffuse some tension if he can be shown to.be an equal opportunity abuser. If I was mayor, I'd check that and throw the department under the bus.

It's in the courtroom now. He's been charged and arrested. All of those priors are going to come out in court and he's going to be able to respond.

That being said, regardless of the outcome of the trial there is no way he should ever be able to work as an officer again. Floyd was in custody and under his care. Even though this evidence seems to indicate that Floyd was dead at the scene, and probably died shortly after hitting the ground, the officer showed no concern for Floyd's welfare. In the event of heart failure those vital minutes might have made all the difference.

it was death from natural causes. it had nothing at all to do with the knee pressed into his neck for 8.45 minutes or the other two cops sitting on him. it was natural causes-when you gotta go, you gotta go.

In 2007, Floyd was charged with armed robbery in a home invasion in Houston, in which another man posed as a water department worker in an attempt to gain access to a woman’s residence, according to court documents.

When the woman realized he wasn’t actually a water department worker, she tried to close the door. That’s when five other men got out of a car that had just pulled up and forced their way inside.

According to charging documents, the largest man in the group, whom the victim identified as Floyd, “forced his way inside the residence, placed a pistol against the complainant’s abdomen, and forced her into the living room area of the residence.”

Floyd in 2009 was sentenced to five years in prison as part of a plea deal in the case.

Shortly after getting out, he made the move to Minneapolis in hopes of a better life, and landed a gig working security at a Salvation Army store.

On Monday night, an employee at a Minneapolis grocery store called cops after Floyd allegedly tried to pass a counterfeit $20 bill.

What's that saying about karma being a bitch?

This cat was on at least a second life after not being killed in that home invasion armed robbery.

Fist aid training? That’s a problem right there.

One thing has been learned from all of these riots. That is, Democrat governors, Mayors, and police chiefs, sympathize with the rioters and don't give a shit about the rest of the citizenry, their property, or the destruction of their cities.

They’re concerned for human lives, for some reason.

The elements of this story sound familiar.

Houston? He was working security at a thrift store? Is that the guy with "Teh Steel Penis Extension" that Rob eroticised after running to hide behind him after pushing down the black lady for panhandling while black?

Its interesting, whites don't riot or try to destroy society anytime a non-white attacks or kills a white. In fact I can't remember that happening even once in my lifetime. Its kind of weird how that works.

"Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease."

And he was "underlying" a knee on his neck cutting off the blood supply to the brain.

When someone tells you that they can't find a pulse, they are telling you he's dead and when you keep the knee on his neck after that say for another two and a half minutes you are making sure he is dead.

Murder, execution or neglect those people need to answer to us people for that man's life...yesterday, today and tomorrow.
