For anyone who wants to share and vent about being a leftist in a corporate world.

I'll mostly post videos, probably.

Recently I found this helpful master list of leftist content creators. The person who gathered it was careful to focus on people who are economically leftist, as opposed to just liberal.

https://www.reddit.com/r/BreadTube/comments/9kwkxa/master_list_of_leftwing_youtube_and_podcast/

Ashleigh Coffin got her channel started just this year, and already delivered a wonderful "leaving the left" parody.

Series I've been enjoying lately, about as much as confederacy apologists hate it. The guy who did it isn't actually a leftist--he once said that "apparently breadtube is liberals making youtube videos."
(Screams in anarchist)

but he's wonderfully educational about history, and a good resource for knowledge to parse when people are spouting pettifoggery.

Anyway, here's some stuff about the origin of Liberalism.

What was Liberalism #1 Ideology and violence

#2 Capitalism and History

Do you think liberalism is leftism??

Or that being a leftist means being a liberal?

Do you think?

Of course that's why I'm always asking questions.

Ones you can't EVER answer......we know why

Let's watch you do it again.

Do you think liberalism is synonymous with leftism??

*incoming deflections from an illiberal jackbooted thug* :D

I was a Green leftist two decades ago. When I accepted the fact that Greens will never achieve anything, I voted Dem for a while, until I saw the Dems really don't care about much beyond getting elected and paid. Now I am looking at the Greens' Ten Key Values and thinking about which of those may eventually be achievable, and how we may get there, outside the partisan prison walls.

If you're asking *me* that, you couldn't have actually read what I wrote above (the part where I drew a distinction between Liberalism and Leftism).

edit: Actually the two times I drew that distinction, once in my first post and once in my second.

I can't recommend the videos I posted about the origins of liberalism highly enough.

Today's a good day for Peter Coffin debunking some myths about American "moderates."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e3_IKKb1fw

Beau of the Fifth Column, always keeping up the pace and talking about whether or not you should vote.
(you should). Like Atun-Shei Films, this guy's not quite left, but he's nearly there.

And now, some casual pieces of leftist friendly media.

A short film from Omeleto about a burn survivor on his first date after his accident:

Russell Howard, always great for humor, and generally a little more socially conscious than most:

Probably my current favorite explicitly explicitly leftist youtuber right now.

(Don't get me wrong, I stan Ollie and Natalie forever but they're not quite "mask off" economically. Not to the same degree as this guy, anyway.)

Do you know any podcasters? The smaller bandwidth and file size of audio can be more convenient for people who run their own sites instead of youtube channels.

The thing that scares me is not Left vs Right, but Zealotry vs Pragmatism.
A little capitalism is good, a little socialism is good, but Zealotry in any direction is counterproductive.

Obama just said the Bernie's ideas are the key to improving America,... when he indorsed Biden.

So is Obama a Leftist? Or is he an Establishment status quoist?

The question to ask the Rich is how much would they give to NOT have their comfortable lives disrupted by a Class War with actual bullets aimed at them and theirs??????:)

Not really. I know Some More News does a podcast, but he's only barely gone mask off in...I think his second to last video, so I doubt any of the podcasts have been explicitly leftist.

Vaush talking ENLIGHTENED CENTRISM (hashtag, copyright, trademark, and all the other gross shit)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-94STO1-D5Q

And just for fun, the best comment underneath the video:

Right: Let's do genocide.
Left: Let's not do genocide.
Centre: Guys, come on, you're gonna have to compromise. Let's just do some genocide.
Right: I guess I can live with that for now.
Left: No
Centre: See, this is why no one likes the left, you guys are the real extremists, smh

You actually didn't draw any distinctions, you posted video links that I couldn't access...thus the questions.

It's refreshing to see someone being honest instead of DESPERATELY trying to conflate the two though.

So is Obama a Leftist? Or is he an Establishment status quoist?

Yes, he absolutely leans left in his personal views. BUUUUUT he's also smart enough to understand that he is working within a system and culture that is largely right wing.

He knows running around with a sign that says "Hippity hoppity abolish private property!!" or "NO borders, no walls, No USA at all!!" is more likely to get his fucking ass kicked than to make any actual progress pulling the USA left.

So he gets behind the party.

I actually did draw clear distinctions.

Here, from my first comment:

"The person who gathered it was careful to focus on people who are economically leftist, as opposed to just liberal."

And here, from my second:

"The guy who did it isn't actually a leftist--he once said that "apparently breadtube is liberals making youtube videos."

The "screams in anarchist" part is a reference to the frustration we leftists feel when we're conflated with liberals.

Parties, are just money scams.

IMO the best way to change things is to adopt your own personal value sets and then actually live them. If you can support others with similar goals, obviously do.

Change what YOU are in control of work within the system you have.

Personally I think if the left REALLY wanted to pull the US left, they would keep it liberal and show us that their ideas, methods and systems are superior by doing it.

Make that co-op, blow the uber corps out of the water......demonstrate the validity of their systems, the prosperity their values/ideals bring those who also live those values/ideals.

If they pull the guns of government out though and decided to try the authoritarian way of moving the nation left? That's just going to start a fight....because M'erica.

I actually did draw clear distinctions.

I just saw those as you describing what was in the video...my mistake.

I was referring to and curious about your personal viewpoint and without the context of the videos it was pretty much impossible for me to determine if you're trying to distinguish them or conflate them.

I thought the former but with the prevalence of the latter I was far from sure.

The "screams in anarchist" part is a reference to the frustration we leftists feel when we're conflated with liberals.

As a radical liberal, but not a libertarian, I share your frustration from the opposite end.

Noam Chomsky says Trump a ‘sociopathic megalomaniac’ who made US ‘singularly unprepared’ for pandemic

Noam has been dissing Trump forever and has a long history of being on the Left of even Biden Democrats. He is also a very smart man who keep track of things.

New comments from the renowned academic come after he accused Trump of wanting “to destroy the prospects for all organized human life… in the near future.”

World-renowned intellectual and author Noam Chomsky called U.S. President Donald Trump a “sociopathic megalomaniac” whose leadership drove the U.S. to become “singularly unprepared” for the coronavirus pandemic.
