it's often stated that 'normal' is 98.6 though scientists have noticed there's a drop in that number over decades. it's thought to be due to people carrying less infections in their bodies as a rule than those walking around in the 19th century when the 'norm' was first determined.

so... took mine, and it's 96.6 F (35.889C ) on a fairly regular basis. was wondering if a slightly cooler body temp makes me feel the heat more than someone who might have a 98 degree reading

anyway, take yours and post it here (or not!)
not getting into any dumb discourse with the trolls, either.

I use the type that takes the temperature from the ear. I run 96.5-97.0 on average. Winter months I am closer to the 96.5 range, the summer 97. A couple times this year I felt a bit hot, thinking perhaps it might be signs of COVID-19 my temp was up at 98.* range...

I had a 101.9 fever Feb. 25th & 26th and have been coughing ever since. Probably just a chest cold. :)

Thanks for confirming for us that you're cold-hearted.

ours is just a digital one you can use orally (or anally/armpit but noooooooooooo, mouths only :D )

guess i'm looking for some kind of snapshot of temp ranges here just for curiosity to see what normal looks like nowadays. i know body temps are meant to be lower first thing and warmer as the day closes down, and that old people often have lower temps. when i first wake up i almost always feel a heat flush rush over me for a couple of minutes then it disappears.

according to the surface reading i've done (and this is just a curiosity thing not a deep discussion), if your body temp's registering 1 degree higher (not sure if that was F or C) then it's technically counted as 'fever'.

i'm 97.5. always a little cooler than the norm, blood pressure is always low, too.

My temperature constantly reads between 96.8 and 97.7. I don’t know how good my thermometer is.

Mine tends to fluctuate between 98.6 and 98.8F.

Have you considered visiting a megachurch and praying for health? :)

I kept thinking about that actually,
and I came to see the point of those who want Church services restarted.
For many it's a source of meaning, for a few - life-saving therapy.
Just like I came to see the point of those who want to re-open the economy.

The problem is, while most parishioners would gladly agree to wearing masks or keeping 3ft between themselves & not singing,

you also have all these agitators who say "no, it's not enough, all or nothing.
We want no social distancing cause freedom and 'Constitutional rights."

Putin would be stupid not to latch onto that.

Mine usually run around 97. If it reaches 98, I know I have a fever.

so far it looks as if a reading around 96.5-97 is more normal

hmmmmnnnn

My consistent normal is 97.6. Rarely does it ever drop lower and only goes higher if I'm feeling puny.

Comshaw

Mine varies between 97.1 and 101.5.......

OOps. My bad..... Those are the radio stations I listen to.

Well, I'm hot blooded, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I'm hot blooded, I'm hot blooded

You don't have to read my mind, to know what I have in mind
Honey you oughta know
Now you move so fine, let me lay it on the line
I wanna know what you're doin' after the show

Now it's up to you, we can make a secret rendezvous
Just me and you, I'll show you lovin' like you never knew

That's why, I'm hot blooded, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I'm hot blooded, hot blooded

If it feels alright, maybe you can stay all night
Shall I leave you my key?
But you've got to give me a sign, come on girl, some kind of sign
Tell me, are you hot mama? you sure look that way to me

Are you old enough? will you be ready when I call you bluff?
Is my timing right? did you save your love for me tonight?

Yeah I'm hot blooded, check it and see
Feel the fever burning inside of me
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I'm hot blooded, I'm hot blooded, I'm hot

Now it's up to you, can we make a secret rendezvous?
Oh, before we do, you'll have to get away from you know who

Well, I'm hot blooded, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I'm hot blooded, I'm hot blooded

Hot blooded, every night
Hot blooded, you're looking so tight
Hot blooded, now you're driving me wild
Hot blooded, I'm so hot for you, child
Hot blooded, I'm a little bit high
Hot blooded, you're a little bit shy
Hot blooded, you're making me sing
Hot blooded, for your sweet sweet thing

no idea of my temp, but ive just had a bath so its probably quite high.

Blood pressure is another thing. last time i had mine done by a GP it was 170 0ver 130. at which point he advised i was at major risk of a stroke (sound a bit like old Ogg 'the younger here' :D ) im still around though and since then -

a) a hospital doctor recommended getting a DIY machine to avoid 'white coat syndrome' being told that since he was an orthopedic dr he should F*** Off and mind his own business, my following orthopod appointments were cancelled. outcome - no longer have to take the NSAID he was destroying my stomach with :D

B)The Dr whom advised i was at risk of a stroke has since been struck off for sexual offences.

nothing will kill you quicker than a doctor, or medical paranoia joined with dr google.

Be well all.

though they usually come from opposite ends of the spectrum, the stories hobbit tells vie with ogg's... one more historical, the other more hysterical

I've been in the 97s my whole life. I had Scarlett fever as a kid and my temp never broke 100. If I'm sick and go to the doctor, I'm always in the 97s. Good or bad, I don't know. Just the way my body works.

However, for a long while, there was a conspiracy theory that I was the next step up in human evolution. It was discussed by many, mostly promoted by me. I can't help what people will believe.

98.6 is just an average as is 72 bpm pulse ,there can be wide variations in both especially pulse ,some very fit athletes can have a resting pulse as low as 30 bpm .

That's 37.0°C ...normal? Hmm.... around here, at least since my childhood (~40 years) that exact temperature has been considered watershed between "OK" and "sickness" while the "normal" would be 36.6°C (97.88 F) if I remember right. Temperature under 36°C would be considered weird, and under 35°C worrisome on its own right.
