my prediction is that biden will pick susan rice as his running mate.

Biden will pick Harris. It's the wrong move but he's really between a rock and a hard place.

His best choice is one he cannot make. Gabbard would be a good choice because she's popular with moderates. However, since Hillary trashed her as a Russian asset, Biden cannot ask her to be VP. He can't because that would put him in a position to have to disavow Hillary's statement and thus lose her supporters.

None of the other possible VP choices can bring any additional support to his campaign.

He’ll do fine with Harris. She’ll get under Trump’s thin orange skin in two minutes. Nothing triggers him like a good looking smarty who he has no chance with. It’ll be fun. Joe can just sit back and watch while she slaps Donnie around.

Hadn't really thought about her. But choosing someone without an electoral track record would be a risk, and Biden doesn't take risks, typically.

Harris doesn't bring anything to the campaign.

She can't even get the support from the voters in her own BLUE State. Which opens the door to flipping the State Red.

She brings NOTHING to battleground States because her attitude and progressive ideas aren't swaying the voters there. As evidenced by her poor support there during her own campaign.

Yet, she is the best choice out of the remaining possibilities because she is now well known to the voters and basically free from any current political controversy taint.

If you’re serious about CA flipping red you’re insane. They voted her in as Senator, Matlock.

WE BOOTED HER ASS out of the State to a position where she is basically a nobody with little power to harm us further.

If you doubt that, you should google it.

If Trump can pretend the Constitution doesn't exist, so can Biden. He could cover all bases and chose several women to run with him--a bevy of VPs. He could find jobs for all of them. Trump has left most jobs vacant, especially the essential ones. Hell, Biden could throw Buttigieg in for good measure.

I would love to see a President who
is not at all hesitant in using Pen and Phone
to do end-runs around a recalcitrant Congress...

California isn't going red in the near future; it was literally Hillary's best state (it helps that Trump has spent 4 years pointedly treating blue states as second class).

And the reference to her "attitude" is interesting. You recall who the current president is, right?

The main thing any Biden choice has to do (even more than with most elections) is come across as a plausible possible president, because he's 77 years old. Any sitting senator or governor begins with the presumption of "qualified," although it's obviously not hard to think of exceptions.

Harris has a lot more personality.

I think Harris would be good in the traditional role of attack dog — God knows it's a target-rich environment — and the kinds of people who would be triggered by a black woman going after a nice old white man aren't voting for Democrats anyway.

I also don't believe it's a major problem that she didn't run a good campaign herself. Failed presidential candidates wind up on tickets all the time, including Biden in 2008.

The special election just the past Tuesday points out that the people here are FED UP with the Demmie bullshit. The voters rejected the "woke" Democrat female replacement for Katie Hill in favor of the Republican Latino man by a margin of 52% to 46%. In California elections, where Democrats hold a 2 to 1 advantage, that's a blowout.

As for Harris, she touts herself as 'black" but couldn't even get 1% of the black vote. Her Statewide poll numbers at the time she dropped out of the race were at 8%. That's a dismal 8% in her OWN HOME STATE.

The voters rejected Harris and her progressive policies and ideologies. Nothing has changed from then to now and in fact, from the results of the recent special election, things look to have actually gotten worse for Democrats.

Yeah right. In a special election of a district that was locked Republican until that girl picked it up in 2018, and then resigned out of sex scandal. And the Trump's boy didn't hesitate to hold it against his opponent who was another woman, but run mostly on local issues. There was no surprise, the opposite would have rater been. Rematch in November will be interesting.

You're comparing a local election to state and national election. Don't do that.

McCain thought picking a woman would put him over the top 2. :)

Yeah, but he chose one whose only foreign relations experience was being able to see Russia from her bathroom window when she was taking a crap.

Susan Rice runs a bit deeper than that.

Warren got more votes than any woman running and in my mind is the obvious choice... I would hate to have to listen to "Pocahontas" from trump for months. Wouldn't the right wing shit their Depends if it is Hitlery. :D

This is a stupid argument even for you. Ignoring context and special circumstances seems to be your specialty.

If CA goes red in 2020 I’ll leave Lit forever. If blue, you go.
