What Are You Thinking? Continued 7

Well put...

I think Amazon accounts for about 4% of all US retail with about 30% market share in e-commerce. Hardly a monopoly portion and well dispersed among multiple industries.

One could argue that they hold a great majority of influence in the books and electronics market....but I can’t see where that has impacted consumers negatively.

Amazon won’t allow itself to become monopolistic. If it did, the Fed would force it to break up - losing its buying power. WHICH is, right now, only a benefit to consumers and the economy. If Amazon were gouging prices, it would be a different story.

Oh man... look at that... a reasonable response. Holy shit... I didn't think it was possible.

You're obviously more informed than me, but I guess my problem is more pharmacy focused. Even if they only account for a small percentage of overall US retail, it's still a HUGE corporation digging their heels in our nation's healthcare system.

And yes, I realize Big Pharma is corporate... but now, we're not only facing expensive drugs, but pharmacy errors are being suppressed which is leading to an extreme problem.

I guess at the end of the day, this is an issue for the Boards of Pharmacy. But they're infested with CVS suits.

Just like with CPD, I won’t assume what will and won’t happen. He might be right that Amazon will take over the pharmacy business. If they do it will be because they do it better than CVS, Walgreens, Target, Costco, etc. If they’re successful what they do after will be up to them, and it may have consequences, either in the markets or governmental.

Lol you guys are all bad influences!

I can get by with fooling around with that girl on the side, hubby wouldn’t be too terribly upset about it but if I fooled around with her hubby too my guy would flip his lid and be gone!

So your hubby would just tell you to go have fun with another woman and that’s it?

That's not true! They can straight up purchase the companies and then have no competition. CVS has already done that. Walgreens attempted it but failed miserably.

Small independent pharmacies are a thing of the past. Now, it's all corporate CVS. There's no competition. WAGS is nothing. And Walmart is nothing.

OH but let me also remind you.. what else did CVS purchase? AETNA. So, now... they can FORCE people to go to CVS. There's no longer a choice.

If this has already happened, then how is it my imagination to think Amazon wont do the same thing?

But you’re making the assumption that small/independent is better than the buying power of larger companies. I’m not saying you’re wrong and maybe CVS makes it a shit show, but I’m fairly confident that your purchase power will go further at CVS than a (likely) higher priced independent pharmacy.

I am actually someone who shops small and local when possible (even in Walmart-ville) but I do so knowing I’m not getting the most product for my money.

As for CVS/AETNA, no one is forced to use AETNA, therefore no one is forced to shop at CVS.

I agree with everything except your last sentence.

That's not true. People can't just choose their insurance if they work. Are you suggesting that people should only find work that doesn't use AETNA/CAREMARK?

You suggested that Amazon entering the pharmacy business would result in a greater amount of deaths than is attributable to the industry currently. That may be true and it may not be. It’s an unknown. I was saying that making that an argument was not legitimate.

Amazon could by a health insurer. Honestly if they did I have to believe they would make it better. Could they make it worse? Healthcare is where you see government regulation in action. It’s a completely inefficient system. I give Obama credit for taking it up in his term but what the industry needed was less regulation, not more.

just look at the issues during Covid. The FDA regulations had to be removed to to get testing moving and drugs approved. I’m not saying make things the Wild West but bureaucracy doesn’t help.

Yuck....no....it takes years off your life and no one likes kissing a smoker. My father smoked up to 2 packs a day at times from 18 to 45 and has now had 5 heart surgeries and is lucky to be alive....

I mean, I should put a fish in the smoker...

Thanks.

And it's "you're."

Oh thanks for that buddy. I have a lot of flaws. I misspell words, drink too much, buy dumb shit off Amazon and get my prescription pills from the supermarket. I hope I dont make the world economy collapse and in turn put you out of work. I would hate if you could no longer wait in line outside your local Game Stop and circle jerk over the latest Fortnite with the other gamer dorks.

Heeeeeey... let's not bring Game Stop into this...

and just an FYI, you don't have to go to Game Stop to buy games... most games are available via digital download...

Speaking of video games, can someone recommend a video game that a 6 year old would have fun playing on a PS4?
