Lord of the Flies

I never knew that something similar had happened,
perhaps because I'm not from that part of the world,
but the key to survival seemed not to have been
competition, but cooperation...

Yep and good read! I was aware of this real life story from long ago. Humans are part of a very small group of truly eusocial creatures. It is worth looking up the creatures we share this distinction with because it's surprising. EO Wilson at Harvard did a lot of the ground breaking research on humans Eusocial nature and our tendencies toward cooperation and collaboration. As a side, his work did not go over well with political activist(on the left) and feminists. Primarily, it is what has put us on top as the most dominant species on the planet.

Some people would hate that statement...

;) ;)

Yes, the allegory of the long spoons.

Perhaps, as in the book, our real competition is not between, but within.

Thinking that an analogy doesn't mean missing the point,
the point to my remark being, "Is that the best you can do to make a point?"

Almost all Kumbayah points fail.

LOL, now you’re missing your own point as well.

Or maybe you’re unclear on what point you want to make in your OP.

None of that has a damned thing to do with my comment about the stupid analogy...

None of that is a point missed in your zeal to score a point.

I'm not worthy. You'll not be awarded Ippon.
Not even Waza-ari...
