So, I've published the first three chapters of a story in Fetish, because... Well, of course there are some fetishes involved.

However, it seems to me that they struggle a little in terms of amount of viewers. Since the upcoming chapter is going to be mainly about the main character's first exploration of anal sex and I go into details a bit, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to put it into Anal, hoping to move things a little by presenting it to another audience.
What are your thoughts, oh wise ones? It is a good idea or I will just loose the few (very nice) readers I have?

You can do that, and your fourth chapter could do well in Anal. My first series started with three chapters in Erotic Couplings, and the fourth chapter in Anal has substantially more views than the previous chapters. Fetish has a smaller audience, generally, than Anal does, and those readers tend to have particular tastes in what they want to read.

You may get some flack from readers who read the fourth chapter if they subsequently look for the first three chapters and are not into the fetishes you have included. But, hey, that's attention your writing is not getting now.

I say go for it.

The thing to remember about the Fetish category is; A fetish is a unique "must have" kind of thing. If you fail to furnish that specific kink (licking the bottom of dirty shoes for example), then for that reader it's a loser. They'll either be nice and go away quietly, or drop a low rating on the story based on their own fetish (or lack thereof).

The thing to remember about anal is that any mention of it is an instant no-go for many people.

Some of these people reading our stories are hard core; I got a comment on one of mine informing me that I had been downgraded to a 3 star because one of my lesbian characters chose to not shave under her arms. Okay story otherwise

Without more info on where the rest of the story goes after the anal part, it'd be hard to offer any meaningful input. But I think I'd opt for switching to Anal on this one.

How "stand-alone" are each of the chapters? If they're fairly well self-contained, you might be okay.

The other alternative is to lose the idea of a multi-chapter sequential yarn, and expand each chapter into a more self-contained story. There's nothing to stop you using the same central character, which I'm assuming you have, with multiple encounters, but present each story as something with closure. I do this quite a bit now, and I find a single story in fact gets a better reaction (certainly no worse). Your super-loyal fans will follow you wherever you go, but you avoid pissing off the category police who can't handle anything other than their favourite kink in "their" favourite category.

Yes, you're right. So the story has been inspired by a picture I saw a while ago. It follows a young girl who wants to become a famous pornstar. In order to be memorable in a very crowded industry, she asks for help to a much older man, who convinces her to invest in a very alternative and recognizable look, starting by getting a tattoo of a giant octopus spreading its tentacles from her asshole (which is tattooed to look like its mouth) to her buttocks, lower back and thighs.
So, you see, there is going to be anal in this anyway, just because it seems to be a must for pornstars these days and, in this case in particular, because of the tattoo. The chapter I'm going to publish next explores in detail how her obsession with anal, possibly started by all the porn she has watched, grows into a real passion as she begins to actually do it.
The story is certainly not about just this, of course, but rather about the possibility of becoming someone else through a path of self-transformation and the idea of sex that pornography creates. So I'm not going to put any other chapters in Anal anyway.

It's hard to tell... There is a short summary at the beginning and few characters, so if one is interested mainly in an "erotic scene", rather than the bigger picture, it makes sense to read them by themselves. Of course, I always hope for the reader to go beyond that.

That certainly justifies the move to Anal for this part. I think that the big take-away is the Achilie's Heel of the Fetish category in general; It was an ill fated goal to gather all the many specific fetishes out there in the world and put them all in one big tent in an attempt to make everyone happy. Sort of like gathering all the world's religions together to have a happy sing along

Fetishes are fetishes for a reason — there's no leeway allowed, no deviation or the fetish fails.
