Workers at nursing homes across Illinois announce plan to strike on May 8th

sadly people seem content to put their old relatives away in homes, care home deaths in spain,italy, uk almost went off the graph.

Other than age, anyone got any suggestions as to why that might be?

One nursing home group here in Sydney with 450 residents recently reported that of the residents who had been in for more than 3 years 42% had no visitors in the previous year. One person in her nineties had been 12 years without a visitor.

Apparently not that uncommon.

^^^Only a Deplorable would describe workers asking for PPE and a living wage as "thugs". The term Deplorable is so fitting. The only term that comes close is Pig.

Many nursing homes are a complete travesty-- human warehouses that provide huge corporate profits at the expense of their clients and the underpaid staff.

Apparently not that uncommon.

Certainly one possibility is that this person's family are jerks - but I could be like that one day. I have no children and a wife who is slightly older than me and no other close family. So I could easily be someone in a home one day who never gets visitors and it would have nothing to do with my family being bad people.
