But truth is truth. In this case those church groups that will not look out for public welfare are reprehensible. Most religions are just as fake as most news outlets and political figureheads. They are motivated by a desire for power and money.

Many religious organizations have shutdown but those that refuse to are just as disgusting as the spring break kids that put their fun above the health and safety of others. I wish they would all move to China.

Having said that, virtually the only segment of society that doesn't "self-police" themselves appears to be churches.

You might recall that the South Korean pandemic spread, despite early government intervention, because one single "megachurch" insisted on having regular worship services. Virtually their entire congregation got infected and spread the virus exponentially.

except NO-ONE should be trying to 'defend' it; rather, they should be loudly condemning it for the utterly selfish, dangerous-to-others practise it is.

fine, they want to congregate and allow 'the lord' to protect them? wonderful. but then they should be required to REMAIN on site there for the 14-day regular quarantine period before being allowed back into normal society. perhaps that might reduce the numbers putting themselves (and others) at risk, and those who insist on going (and having to remain) waive the right to demand hospital resources over and above those who took proper care not to contract the virus but were unfortunate enough to get it anyway....
