I’m checking out thread family. Most know I work for Amazon, I’m back to 60hrs/wk, but I’m interviewing for a big promotion up the management ladder. If I get it I will be gone 6mths, onboarding a large new team, training & then leading them. So no other issue for me disappearing, I’m very settled with my man, it’s all work

How is it we are so physically close these weeks and I feel totally unseen or heard? It’s enough to make you weep but no privacy for a breakdown.

I think there will be many people with the very same thoughts for quite some time.

That was the last 5 years of my life. Stay strong.

I used to relish her going to bed early so I could be alone on the sofa and cry/relax/stroke. Whatever I needed.

It's a matter of determining risk/reward that every individual must make with multiple factors at play (so to speak).

Yes, have been for several yr. though I don't measure my Marriage on the amount of sex...but, it is very frustrating.

20 years ago, in the middle - literally - of what I thought was making physical love, my wife looked right into my eyes and said "You know I don't love you". which I most certainly did not! All I could was reply with "What?", whereupon she repeated her statement - no explanation or reason give, I stopped and rolled away, expecting her to provide some reason. Instead she faced away from me and nothing. For 3 months of abstinence she never mentioned it or gave a reason. Finally she asked if we were ever going to have sex. I said "NO" and again expected her to talk. She didn't and never has since; nor have we had sex since that night. I haven't cheated on her; don't think she ever cheated on me. Now I am seeking a mature woman in a similar situation who'd like a lover.

It's an intriguing process how spouses turn into roommates, how the intimacy is often the first to go by the wayside in making a life together.

the real challenge though is what do we do now? I hope you find that happy escape and the relief and fulfillment you deserve. You are much too young to be in that state...

In most cases there is the same number of men and women in a marriage, so for every sexless married men by definition there should be a sexless married woman. There are some situations where she is getting it on the side and he is not getting any, but these are probably very rare.

It's a curious issue - need more research! Though I also know that a lot of men employ the "sexless marriage" victimhood language to justify their cheating. though, many of us are in sexless marriages...

Initiate... In many situations it's a question of interpretation. There is a story from MSW right on this page: she said no to love, he said no to sex, they are still together 20 years later, neither one took any further steps towards fixing the situation. There are few others like this here: she said no to one activity or another, he said no to everything else, and now 5-10-20 years later I am sure both of them are calling it a sexless marriage.

No, not every sexless marriage is like that, but probably more than you think.
