My submission does not have the original formatting

Probably my mistake since I asked to keep original formatting in the opening lines of the doc files instead of in the submission form. Without the formatting, it looks very odd and not as I envisioned it.

Do I need to resubmit?

Forget about your formatting. The site allows bold, underline, italics, centering, but that's about it. The presentation format is standardised by the site - they choose font and size, right ragged and no paragraph indents. You don't get much of a say as to what it looks like.

No, that's what I meant. I had put italics, bold etc in the text. The basic stuff. They are not there on the site. Anyway, I resubmitted. Thanks!

I saw one use of italics - the heading "Prologue" - but I didn't look past the first page to see if there was any more.

What device are you reading on? html coding doesn't show up on all devices, which is one reason fancy formatting is a bit of a waste of time.

You are right.. The prologue is in italics, but the rest of the text does not have the correct formatting. The reason why it is essential is that the main character has some internal monologue during a scene and without the italics, it becomes unwieldy and tough to follow.

It is my fault since I should have mentioned it in the submission form itself instead in the beginning of the main text as a note to editors. A lesson for next time!

I checked with my laptop as well as my phone.

There are two ways only to include bold, italic etc, you either include the html tags yourself in the document, or you add a note on the submission form when you submit It. This takes longer to become live as Laurel has to add the tags manually.

The only standard tag that is included automatically is the new line and to break up paragraphs you need to insert a blank line between them. Word processor paragraph formatting to add extra space before or after a paragraph is stripped out on publishing.

Thanks for clearing that up. I will add HTML tags in my next submission. Will help lessen the site editors work.
