Just for the record... China Virus

But, by all means, let's not insult the precious, innocent Chinese...

Anyone who thinks the government of China is our friend are just blind. There are several countries out there that are hoping and praying for a total collapse of the US WHICH ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN! Our people make us great and as long as people do the things our medical experts tell us we will get through this. There are things in the pipeline, just need to hunker.

There is a prominent school of thought alive and well in what is known as
Western Civilization. It is at least a two-pronged school of thought, the first
being that your nation, as a former colonial power, exploited, enslaved and
impoverished most of the rest of the world and should always be held
accountable to that history, never to be forgiven as long as your nation is
more affluent than any other single nation on the face of the earth (and in
its most extreme form, we find the sub-school of thought that the idea of
a nation should be left on the scrap-heap of history). The second tine of this
devil's fork is Moral Relativism, i.e., all nations, all governments, all peoples
and all cultures are equally valid, thus we have no right to judge or condemn
China for its actions because we are still more guilty, historically, than they are
and are clearly in no moral position to judge them or the actions of their government.

For example, you mention the Muslim Uyghurs in concentration camps and the
knee-jerk response is that we are holding brown people in concentration camps,
i.e., prisons...

I agree with the OP and republican-leaning posters, that coronavirus has been misused for all sorts of economic-political purposes, attacking Trump ++ being one of them.

But why try to minimise the severity of the virus and pandemic, as a defense?
It's a counterproductive defense strategy.

These are the facts

The WHO is a UN client bureaucracy controlled by the Communist Chinese and regularly spreads their propaganda and talking points as they continue to do today. American authorities are not going to change the the naming conventions for disease outbreaks that have been in use for hundred or more years just because the Communist Chinese don't want to admit their culpability in inflicting this pandemic on the rest of the World. The 1957 "Asian flu" , 1968 "Hong Kong flu" and 1977 "Russian flu," a;ll originated in China.

This post is factually correct. In addition EVERY YEAR their are new strains of the flu coming out of China. The total cost to the world in health care and loss of work runs into the trillions of dollars. No price can be placed on the millions of lives that have been snuffed out because of their filthy practices. Most people seem to be asleep to this fact. If there was keen public awareness of this situation people would demand that their medical supplies and drugs should not be manufactured in a hell-hole country like China that is causing the very disease they are seeking to treat.

Therefore in the interests of public awareness lets all call it what it is THE CHINA VIRUS. Or the China COVID-19 virus or the Kung Flu virus. Whatever it takes to wake people up to this global nightmare.

To comment on the shutdown of the economy, throwing people out of work and
shuttering businesses, probably, for the small, forever is not minimizing
anything. China's mortality rate (assuming you can believe their numbers)
was 1.4%. Ours is now trending downward.

The question is, why don't we shut down for the flu with a similar mortality rate?

I somewhat anticipate this becoming a new norm since since government is
always loath to surrender powers that we passively let it assume.

The virus is SARS-CoV-2.

We have never shut down the country for an outbreak of SARS...

Think about it. Why this time? Because they could? Because it hurts the government
forcing government to overreact rather than absorb a daily political beating?
No fan of government here, and the proof is in the overreaction.

Didn't we help China free itself from the Japanese in WWII?

I think not having an antiviral or vaccine is propagating panic!

We do have treatments that are working elsewhere,
but I don't think the deep state wants solutions -
they want absolute power and this is one step closer...

When the media goes on a sensationalism jag, the guy with the bully pulpit is the one who has to tell the people to calm down.

He does that by telling us that there's nothing to fear (but fear itself).

You'll notice that Trump's pressers gave an upbeat outlook, introduced experts who told us that things were going as expected, that we have ways to fight back, and that there are simple things everyone can do to limit their risk.

That's not minimizing the severity, it's telling you to calm down and stop hoarding toilet paper.

It's the media which is propagating panic.

Is it serious? Yes. It is reason to panic? No.

Not only that, but I am sure to the chagrin of the Lit blame Trump crowd
ABC/Ipsos and Harris polling show the majority approve of his handling
of the situation (which puts the haters in the minority and
they were so sure they were "winning").

Very good questions

It actually would make sense to practice 'social distancing' whenever there is a global virus killing people. But that does not normally happen. So what is driving this? Clearly it is because the left tried to use it as a political weapon and so we are seeing a political response. At the same time the political response includes a major medical response that will help educate people about infectious disease. I am also glad that it is putting a spot light on China. I have known for years that they are the source of many deadly viruses and people sleep walk through it year after year.

Yeah, France has been piddling with a combo approach using Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin. Seems to be having a positive impact on lessening the Viral load while improving and strengthening the immune system and reducing the duration of the infection. Its allowing zinc to do its thing within the cells ( oversimplification ).

And, as I have said many times in the last week,
the government should have stopped at education,
instead they decided to go the totalitarian route...

When the RWCJ is reduced to spluttering "but..but...The DEEP STATE!" you know you've won.
*nods*

(or better yet...when they hide behind the words of others promulgatin' "Deep State" herp-a-derp...because they think it gives them "plausible deniability"....let us now recite the AJ/Vetteman catechism when caught:

"I never said that!"
"I never said that I agreed with that!"
"I was simply.....PASSING IT ALONG!"

There's also one, it starts with an r, I'd have to look it up
that worked on a patient with severe symptoms...

What's driving this is the instant knee jerk reaction to do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE in direct opposition to Trump's objectives.

Trump closed the border to China - HoR Bill to remove that power from the President.

Trump's experts, the CDC, and the WHO tell us to stay away from each other - go hug a Chinese person campaign starts up in Italy.

And so on.

Whatever it is, if Trump's supporting it, the stupid loudmouthed idjits of the Left INSIST that it's racist and we should all do the opposite. Well, they're paying the price for their foolishness in propagating their TDS bullshit. Good for them.

There's a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

There's no doubt media is playing a role and then we have Fuzzy-nuts!
But having no cure is scaring people, why? because there's also no cure for the flu but the media won't tell you that. Colds and the flu have to work they're way through the body and hopefully your immune system can beat it, 66,000 didn't make it from Oct 2019- Feb 2020. Well, I bet you when a vaccine is available there'll be lines to get it.

ORANGE MAN BAD, just ask Fuzzy, Coati, Carnal, RDS, KiethD, DAuto and of course Butters!!!!

The biggest reason people die from influenza is that they don't get the flu shot yearly. They have lots of excuses why they don't. And thousands die.

CV is no different. We don't have a "CV shot" but right now we have a treatment that appears to be effective. Eventually we WILL have a "CV shot" and millions of people still won't get one. And thousands will die.

The flu shot is no panacea.

It is a best guess on which strain will prevail,
which has not always proven to be true.
