While drama queeness abounds, it's satisfyingly logical to find the truth found in the actual numbers reported for this strain of pneumonia of unknown cause.

For the factual situation in the US, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is daily updating numbers and maps:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-in-us.html

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-in-us.html#reporting-cases

For the world situation, the World Health Organization (WHO) daily issues its Situation reports, here:

https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/situation-reports/

The first reported case of COVID-19 to WHO came 31DEC2019 from Wuhan, communist China - not even 3 months ago, and already the affected numbers at ground zero are rapidly dissipating.

The CDC estimates that 16% of ALL those infected (almost all those elderly with additional risk factors already present) will experience serious complications, while the other 84% will simply experience "mild" effects which require no practical medical attention at all.

Not a drama queen myself, all I know to do is assess the numbers. You should do the same instead of bowing a single knee to the malicious fear mongers. Everyone around you will be better for it.

The numbers LIE. The US is not testing as many as most other countries so they just DON'T KNOW how many cases there are - and the CDC has stopped recording!

There is one number that doesn’t lie, the number of US deaths is holding at 41. While one death is too many, isn’t this the ultimate measure?

How many died by this point from the non-hyped H1N1?

But the Covid-19 epidemic has only just started in the US. What will the numbers be in 3 months?

Fuck off and die of cancer already, you old puke.

Sorry. Thanks to the thoughts and prayers of my friends on Literotica, my cancer is now in remission.

Even the countries that are testing far more extensively than the US, and that's almost every other country, admit they don't know how many untested people might be carriers.

Sounds like LaurelManu should set this word in the blocked filter list so it cannot be posted.

And start closing threads under the no Spam rule #9.

It's not about how many were tested, it's about the proper breakdown of the known aggregate into its proper perspective. Over half of the know deaths were of the elderly with severe immune challenges mostly in one area of the country. The mortality of that group could be as high as 80%. You need more data sets for a standard deviation formula for both mortality rate and rate of spread.

Right now the mortality rate in China is 4%, in the US it's 3%.

Re. Testing. Yes, other countries are testing more but they are getting a high number of false positives. This is due to flaws in the kits themselves. Is the same thing happening in the US? Don't know yet. All positive test results are being verified by CDC testing and those numbers either aren't out yet or I can't find them.

The CDC admits it is not recording/publishing data anymore.

When you start with the fact that pneumonia is a condition not a disease so their aren't strains of it you can almost dismiss the rest of what the OP says completely out of hand.

The reality here is the problem we have a fair amount of incredibly stupid people but as per usual more bitches than genuine idiots. Very few people are saying the sky is falling, we're all gonna die. We're saying stop with this media bad, and not taking this seriously. This is not your every day flu that we see every year. We don't know how much more contagious but it seems to be roughly 10x as deadly, which still isn't much in the grand scheme of things mind you but that's a higher risk than I normally take for doing my day to day thing. I stopped being an American high school student decades ago, my day day job is perfectly safe.

The numbers don't really lie, though our numbers are so innacurate that calling them the numbers is a bit of a lie. Regardless there aren't a lot of things you can compare it to without being an idiot.

So how about this, we all keep not panicking and where I live the panicking is limited to overshopping which at this point is seeming less and less insane. Unfortunately as I realized walking around my store this morning me not stockpiling TP sounded perfectly rational until I realized if these fucks don't calm down in the next week or so I'ma be shit outta luck. Them buying it all does affect me in the long run.

We're not gonna die and for the next six weeks we don't shake hands. Wakanda Forever is the official greeting within these United States.

Try pimping your renowned wannabism to who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/events-as-they-happen

Yes I already pointed that out to him on another thread, but he is quite fond of thinking he is right....

The suppliers are not out of toilet paper, just the demand outstripped the restocking cycle. By next week the rolls should be rolling back in....

^^ That's why I said if this shit doesn't calm down. What the supplier does or doesn't have does me no good if people strip the shelves again before I get there.

Here in SoCal you'd get fired on the spot for saying fuck in a professional environment. Guess its a disadvantage of living in civilization is one must act civil in public.

Someone should tell all the homeless folks shitting on the streets of California.

IMO cussing has nothing to do with civility.

It's more of a courtesy I suppose??

I'll keep the the lines of work where people can still talk shit without fear of someone running to mommy and daddy to punish the big fat meanie heads.

Oh the shitting in the streets that the media has done such a wonderous job of building up. We'll get around to it, probably when someone dies, but still.

The media hasn't built it up, the combo of homeless folks and shitty management built that up. I used to live there until just recently and we both know it's a legit problem.

I don't think you will, I think you'll just encourage them to do it more.

Legalizing that same group of people to just jack stores for 950 or less is going to bring even more in.

Extra boom for business too no doubt.....I left too early lol, I should go back out there and just load up the Sequoia with all the free shit I can just loot at will.

Shit I'm going to snag some laptops and eat free next time I visit.

Fontana, have to swing by and steal a bunch of shit from your neighborhood, 950 bucks at a time.

No, the media has built it up. The rest of the factors you mention are cute but we have actual maps, the entire problem is limited to a handful of neighborhoods in San Fran and LA, not even the entire cities, just very specific areas to avoid. Its not the way the media portrays it at all.

Have fun tryin. We don't fuck around too much around here. The biggest problem we have out here is a not entirely inactive KKK.

It is a touch surreal. I feel like I am in the first 10 minutes of one of those "end of the world" disaster movies.
