Story keeps getting sent back

I had a story published here last week, but it was sent back yesterday for inappropriate ages.

The characters never had their ages mentioned, but I always intended them to be high school seniors. So I changed a few lines to mention they are over 18, resubmitted, and it was sent back again for the same reason.

What should I do? The story now says the character is 19 (and the second character is 18, mentioned in another chapter), but it still gets rejected?

Any help would be appreciated!

Post a disclaimer at the beginning that the characters are all over 18. But... Are you sure there is no mention of sex or anything of that ilk at an earlier age?

Thank you, that's a good idea. There was mention of younger solo activities too, so to be safe I've removed all of that as well. Thanks again for your help!

That would have been the reason for rejection, most likely. Under eighteen masturbation is a no-no sexual activity for the purposes of the Lit age content policy, so if you've stripped that content out, you should be okay.

Age disclaimers are a waste of time really. As you've found out, it's what you write the characters doing that matters.
