Giving up your rights

What price would you put on your rights? I don't mean "rights" that governments claim to have the right to grant. I mean your rights as a human. Like the right to arm yourself however you see fit.

Would you give up rights of freedom of speech or anything else in exchange for government handouts of any kind?

Free education? Free medical? What price do you put on your freedom?

Are you willing to take away other peoples rights so that they are forced to live by your rules because you are wiser? Would you feel good about telling others what size soft drink they can have because you know what is best for others?

I would love to know what price you put on yourself.

How about your responsibilities? To your country, your state and your neighbours?

Rights come with obligations too.

PS: I have the right to drive my sheep over London Bridge without paying a fee.

That comes with a responsibility: To turn up with my pike and musket to defend the City of London if it is threatened.

Securing your rights requires you secure your neighbor's rights as well.

I have the right to a fair trial.

But I had the responsibility when required (not any more -I'm too old) to be a juror to ensure that the accused has a fair trial.

I did that three times, and each time I was elected foreman. I wasn't called again - the local defence lawyers objected because in all 14 trials I announced: Guilty on all charges!

Your rights aren't granted by government. They are taken by government. When Bernie says people have a right to free health care, education, property, whatever, he's saying other people have a right to your labor and what you produce. When he says health care should be free, he's saying people who work in that industry don't have a right to their work, what they spent thousands upon thousands to educate themselves to produce isn't theirs to put up for sale. When everything is free, nobody has any is freedom.

In the United States I don't think lawyers would have access to votes in previous cases. harpy can correct me if I'm wrong.

I am and was distinctive, and the defence lawyers were operating in a local Crown Court. They didn't need 'access'. They had been in court for every one of the trials.

I'm 72 years old and a Vietnam veteran. I joined the Navy during the Vietnam War. I attended a Navy specialty school. Before graduating from this school I volunteered for gunboat duty but ended up assigned to a hospital ship patrolling from Danang to the DMZ. Our ship was a prime target of the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese Army.

Right now our Nation's president is leading our Nation to become the next Soviet Satellite state. Should he be re-elected it would not surprise me to see rioting in our streets along with Russian tanks and their Army on our soil. Should this happen I'll take up arms against them. I'll try to help restore our Nation into the hands of people who place our principles before themselves and money like our current president does. At the current time we have a person in the White House who considers himself "Dictator" all thanks to the Republican Senate.

Before anyone Trump supporter attacks me, I was a Republican supporter from age 16 until September 2019. I worked the Goldwater campaign, was a member of TARS (Teenage Republicans) and worked other campaigns. After seeing Senator Mitch McConnell's performance in the senate since 2008 and the Republicans in Congress I knew the Republican party I grew up with was dead. The Trump Republican cult party is not the GOP (Grand Old Party) but rather the (Grab Our Pussy) party. The Republicans of today jack step to their herd leader, Trump.

Like the right to rive a car? When did that become State owned? Your forfeathers already gave that one up. :)

Yeah...we get it. You're at that age where you just want the government to take care of you. :)

Must be a small town with a small jury pool.

After the verdict is read, either side can request a vote of the individual jurors to verify that the verdict is their true vote.

The jurors can only respond by saying "guilty" or "not guilty". No other words are permitted.

The only question left to ask here is; when did your sanitarium get wifi...

Thank you for your service to our country. That aside, the above is either a gratuitous lie or an observation based on propaganda for which there isn't the slightest bit of evidence, none whatsoever. You are insulting the people of the country you helped to defend so many years ago with these inane, irresponsible, and uneducated observations. You have a right to make them but you don't have a right to your own facts. fucking disgraceful for a man of your age and experience to have fallen victim to this enemy propaganda.

I'm wondering if it would be admissible to bring up or ask a juror about the history of his/her verdicts in past cases.

During Voir Dire you can ask a prospective juror if they've ever sat on a jury before. If they say yes, you can ask if they've voted to convict or acquit in any of those times. You can ask how many times they voted that way.

The point of Voir Dire is to suss out prejudice or bias. Thus, any questions aimed toward that possibility are allowed.

i know this is beyond your grasp but you're already paying for other's healthcare. bernie is going to make sure your money is allocated correctly. 😉

I know this is difficult for you, but decisions made by corporate entities are not directly translatable to individuals.

Otherwise, one could say that they own a piece of Bill Gate's mansion and, because of that, they can vacation there any time they want.

I've been on jury duty four times in county courts and once in federal court and have never been asked how many times I've voted guilty or not guilty or in what particular cases I did so.

how high are you this morning? no one said anything about any of that. 🙄

The real truth revealed by your response is that you have no understanding of the subject at hand.

This is the fault of the attorneys conducting the Voir Dire or the court has limited questioning in a way which prevents it.

I have never had a problem asking such questions. It starts with; have you ever sat on a jury before? More than once? In those cases, did you consistently vote only one way or the other? And goes on from there.

The questions MUST BE neutral, but they can be asked.

Good Voir Dire can shape the jury in your favor. Most attorneys neglect this because they think that "the case" starts when they begin questioning witnesses. That's totally wrong, it starts with your very first interaction with the jury because the jury is everything. This is why high profile attorneys employ jury selection experts and listen to them during Voir Dire.

If you believe government can correctly allocate health care resources for everyone in the country, your grasp on reality is unsteady at best. This is the same set of clowns who put together an online 60-page Obamacare enrollment form that never worked and cost a billion dollars.
Dream on, big government clown.

In several cases I've seen jury selection specialists sitting right there with counsel during Voir Dire writing on charts or worksheets after every juror response, obviously grading them.:)
