How to delete a published story?
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.

Hi!
Hope you had a great weekend!
First, I want to let you know that you have every right to remove your submissions from the site at any time for any reason.
Be aware that we do not store site submission data - including votes, comments, and the text itself. Once it is deleted from our servers, we cannot restore it.
Also know that if you submit a new edit the story, we will post it as new but it will not be eligible for any contests because it is not new to the site.
For security purposes and to make sure you (as the author) are the one making the removal request, you must follow this procedure: log into your account and create a submission titled "REMOVE". In the body of the submission, put the names of the submissions you wish removed along with (optionally) the reason for their removal.
If you want all of your work removed, you can write "DELETE ALL" in one form rather than listing every submission.
If you want all of one series removed, you can write "DELETE [SERIESNAME]" in one form rather than listing every submission.
Submission removals are usually done within 2-5 days.
Thanks for your support, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Laurel
I asked Laurel that question a few years ago. This was her reply.
What if I have a story that I want to move to another category? It's actually Part 1 of a two part story (with Part 2 in a different category). If I delete both, then combine them into one longer story; Would that be treated as a new story and be eligible as new story as a whole? It is the first two stories I submitted to Lit, and it makes more sense if they were both in the same category and/or combined and in the correct category.
It's not an end of the world issue — just curious and pondering some "what ifs".
Resubmit the one you want shifted, with the word EDIT in the title, and ask Laurel in the Notes to the Editor to do the category shift. That way, your entire story history remains, and they'll both be in the same category. Very few will ever know, though, because they won't get re-listed.What if I have a story that I want to move to another category? It's actually in the FAQs.NotWise,
Thank you for that information, will definitely keep it for future reference.
"Ask Laurel" is usually the ultimate solution, but you know she's busy. If I wanted to do something like that then I'd probably submit the combined story as a new story and delete the existing stories.

If you combined them, I guess you could delete the second part as a standalone part, and bolt it onto the first, and submit as an edit. But again, only those trawling through your catalogue will ever see the change.
If it's not upsetting the category police, I wouldn't bother. I'd suggest your stories attract adult readers, Yukon, who can accept a kink misalignment.
