Dear all,

I took a stroll through Literotica's artwork category and was bewildered that there is so many good artwork not rated. Is that a new feature to artwork or is there some unwritten rule to not rate in that category - which, of course, I did :D

For example there was some really good artwork published in 2011 with >100k views but not a single rating. How's that?

So, dear reader, if you come across something you like, please, leave a rating. Authors and artists really appreciate any feedback. Thanks, hugs & kisses

It's rare that art work gets rated. I have sixteen drawings posted; of those, only three are rated.

So, not rating art is kind of a mainstream thing? Well, I do like to wild, uncommon stuft. I hope that many will follow and reanimate the artworks' Hall of Fame.

P.S. very nice pencils and charcoal drawings. I really liked the 'Sophies' that highlight with one additional color.

P.P.S.: I activated the beta-features some days ago. I noticed some artworks for which I couldn't leave a rating or a comment, even though the site showed the according buttons. It would be nice if thoses wouldn't be shown if the author decided against rating/comments

It has been in "beta" since the get go. YEARS now.
The voting has never really worked (although you can see numerical scores on a handful of posts).

The ABCDE... search function does not search...

keywords and categories should be available.
I doubt that it will move beyond that. I have made suggestions to Laurel and Manu (who, I feel are no longer part of LIT)
It does not seem o be a priority.

One will have to settle for "favorites" and, if you are really lucky/outrageous/talented/or have close friends maybe some comments.

I think that the rating system does not seem to work properly, I have 7 works on there over the past few years and none of them seem to show any ratings (perhaps no one likes them enough!)
As per the below there has probably been about 1 favourite per thousand views and even less in comments, I am wondering if that section is somewhat obscure for people to find.
Personally I would much prefer a comment rather than a rating, however I find that as time goes on there are less and less comments on other websites as well - such as Deviantart.
it was really good for comments a few years back but no one seems to have the time or want to comment these days.

Well, overall the rating system works in 99 % in the current beta version of the page. I did check :) Only in some rare occasions I couldn't rate for whatever reason. And I was wrong about the fact that the page shows the rating buttons even if the artist disabled that. There were some artworks without that options, the small rest was maybe buggy.

------------

Blurhead, what shall I say? Six, seven stars? Till now, some oft the best images I've seen. Maybe some more work on hands and fingers, they stand out a bit from the highly realistic proportioned rest. Overall: premium class!

Many thanks for the comments.

It works, but nobody votes. I've got drawings with around 30k Views, but my highest Vote count is 3.

I think it's probably the short time that one spends to take a look on a specific artwork. Even though 'a picture says more than a thousand words', let's be honest, how many seconds do you need to get an impression and rate for yourself? Not many, I would say... Maybe it's the physical presence that makes us spent more time to explore a painting inside a museum or gallery.

Anyway, I try to wander through the category and have discovered some pearls and diamonds among those. It's amazing to see what beautiful art is created by talent and devotion. Thanks to all oft you.

I wonder if that section will EVER get out of "beta". The option to "participate" in "new" beta features is quite buried in one's profile options, under "my Options"... down at the bottom.

If they ever get most of the bugs worked out (one never gets them all), it won't be retroactive and all submissions prior will be disadvantaged.

It is also odd that, as you had noted, there is the OLD section (of 17 ancient submissions...from "readers"?...not necessarily "members"?)
Erotic Images
Erotic Illustrations
Original erotic art created by our readers.

https://www.literotica.com/storyxs/a_stor.shtml

vs (the more current)

Illustration submissions
Adult Comics - Multi-panel erotic comics. (725)
Erotic Art - Erotic artworks & illustrations. (2901)

https://www.literotica.com/c/adult-comics

https://www.literotica.com/c/erotic-art

*******
And as Blurhead has noted, comments on DeviantArt have fallen off. Though "deviant"Art is FAR from "deviant", they have much stricter guidelines about anything explicit, which is why I began posting illustrations here to begin with, and advocated for this forum section AND the one "up front".

If someone were to stumble on LIT via the home page, it might take some time to even discover the Erotic illustration Area(s)

Those helping hands won't be there.

Likewise for this area on the bulletin board.

Definitely not "working properly", However, it looks like taking 29*'s advice and enabling the BETA features, you will see some evidence of rating.

Take a look, if you scroll down...........
n the "Erotic Art Hub"
to the "Hall of Fame", you will find that you . are "famous" with scores of 5.0:)

Well, you're both right. There have not been many ratings in the artwork category till now. People started to be a bit more open to attach some stars to recently published artwork. I still worry about the 'legacy' art. It would be nice if those illustrations would receive more attention, other than just from me, too. Sorry, if I turned the Hall of Fame into a statistical anomaly.

P.S.: If in some distant future tags would be available...that might help. At the moment 'similar stories' feels a bit random.

P.P.S.: By the way, 'Adult Comics' is also very seldom rated category. I'm really not sure that mine is a top-dog in that category.

So, if you like an artwork, please rate it. Artists are like writers, they are on attention diet, too.

I found another issue that always correlates with pages which show the rating/comment option, but obviously don't work with the Beta page. Well, actually they don't work on the old page too: rating is said to be sent but not received.

I sent a PM about that issue to Manu and hope it gets through.

Update: it has been solved. So, rating should work in the Beta version.

With the Beta features enabled in my settings — now the images don't appear... actually, the appear for a split second the vanish.

I turned it off (and saved changes)...the image worked. More bugs

(I submitted a "bug report")

I noticed that too !! thanks for the fix.

Not a good time to publish artwork. My latest isn't shown, neither in beta nor in legacy mode
But it's there, somewhere on the server:

Better hold back your gems until the issues are solved and they can really be appreciated

When did you submit it?

Odd.
As you indicate, there is the link (in your post)
I went to the HUb...and it shows that you have a new artwork posted, but, indeed, it does not appear. Other new images DO show up.
You do somehow have 5 stars on it, so i must have shown up at some point. I reported the bug, you should too (if you have not already).

Yes, I reported it to Manu, too. The images are preloaded by the page's scripts that's why you can see them for moment, but the actual element HTML code is missing that references to the loaded images, interestingly Adult Comics with more than one page at least show the second and following pages. Rating seems to be a little messy again too. Let's see how soon it's fixed *fingers&toes crossed*

Now your latest is gone altogether. Hopefully that means it is in the process of being corrected.

ANOTHER issue (still) is the search function.
I have found that "search" does not seem to be on every page, or in the same location, so finding your profile was a small challenge.

Unless one is uploading stuff constantly, you won't be on the first landing page and even if someone browsing knows your user name, fining you work takes a while. And as mentioned before, the ABCDEFG... search doesn't jump to the appropriate spot alphabetically. and generally folk won't know what the title of a work is, anyway. — that's why keys words search and subject tags and/or categories would be helpful. Even broad categories like for stories.

Medium: Pencil, oil/acrylic, watercolor, digital paint, Digital 3D, manipulated photos...

Subject (and/or tags): Female, male, Hetero couples, Gay couples, Lesbian couples, group sex, bondage, fantasy, sci-fi, tentacle, toys, romantic, explicit, pin-up....

Style: photorealistic, crude, cartoon, manga, shunga, expressionistic, pin-up, B&W, color...

obviously, thee can be/should be more subdivisions and there are cross overs.

29wordsforsnow, your submission still seems to be totally absent. Did YOU do anything? (besides contacting manu) Did you get any response?

It was sent back after it was online some hours. Comment spoke about a broken file. I guess, someone did the right thing to report the submission. I resubmitted from a different system. This worked well last time I faced a similar problem.

Hope it's back online in the next days.

Ah. great. perhaps the system is "moving forward".

the artwork's nine lifes

Anyone else who has or had problems with artworks including more than one image that were rejected because of 'broken files' or images that didn't go through to the server. As the images are shown in the sent back submission, I don't understand where the actual problem is. Does anyone have an idea if there is any other limitation pic size/file size that isn't mention in the info of the upload form?

It's now the second time for me that a multi-pic submission is rejected several times while some others went smoothly to publication in one go.

Thanks for any advice on this,
