Frankly a tie looked a whole lot better on Rene's bare chest in her thread a couple of days ago. However, I am a fan of the "full Windsor" knot over the more common four-in-hand, because it produces a symmetrical knot. I appreciate symmetry in inanimate objects; i find it very satisfying.

Damn, I thought women's fashion could be confusing. Apparently some consider the terms full Windsor and double Windsor to be redundant, as the Windsor is the standard from which the half Windsor is taken. Basically, the Windsor and half Windsor are nearly identical knots. The Windsor has an additional two steps. From what I can tell, the Windsor ends up with a thicker and slightly wider knot.

This site has some good info and excellent links for tying both Windsor and half Windsor knots. Even I feel confident that I could tie both knots well after watching.

Yes, this is often the kind of thing that I do...research answers to things that interest me even when they have little bearing on my everyday life. My husband does wear a tie to work almost every day...a half Windsor if I am correct...but that is really stretching the connection. This is what I do instead of doing things like figuring out what I will post for "U" week.
