Comments on Stories

The author will almost certainly have disabled the comments function. You have that option when you submit a story. I like getting comments (comments, likes and high scores are the only rewards writers get) but some people don't want the hassle of potentially negative comments, I suppose.

You have to welcome positive as well as negative feedback. Everyone is a critic.

Welcome isn't really the proper term

But if you're allowing public comments/feedback you should EXPECT to get them.

The problem is a lot of people are very selective about what they want to hear, and until Lit comes up with a "please allow only glowing, ego stroking, I'm the best author ever" comments...then expect the bad with the good.

Literotica has functionally weighed in on this topic, largely leaving maintenance of comments up to author preference and not telling authors what that preference even should be, let alone has to be. Although in recent months Literotica has trimmed out some comments on its own, it has set up a system here by which the author has the option of accepting comments or not as well as the power to delete comments him/herself. And Literotica sets no requirements on how/for what reason the author does what she/he does with comments.

As far as telling authors what they have to do or should do in maintaining comments on their stories or have to or should do or think in choosing to posting stories here in accordance with any one else's opinion, my personal thought is that anyone else but the author should mind their own business and can pound sand.
