Scars to be proud of.

Interesting concept... I never understood this "proud" idea with regard to a medical problem. If we are talking about scars of a soldier or a firefighter, sure, he probably got them as a result of helping somebody. But when there was an illness that required a surgery... What exactly is there to be proud of? I did not make a choice to get sick. I did not make a choice to be born in the right century when this surgery was even possible either.

Not a lover of scars as such. I have prominent scars on both knees that don't keep me from wearing shorts. You are obviously comfortable with your body and trust us enough to post them openly. Hey, they are part of you, but not all of you.

And a story to go with it.

I knew exactly what I wanted to shoot, but did not have the right stockings. Checked all the major stores in town -- nope, nobody had anything with seams. Was about to start checking sex shops, but before that thought I better check Target, not much hope, but prices there are much better than in any sex shop. I knew closest to me Target did not have them, but maybe some other store? Surprise-surprise! Website that there was a store about half an hour drive from me that had two pairs in the right size and for a very reasonable price. Great!

It was too late in the day, so I could not go, and I did not want to leave it till tomorrow, because who knows, maybe they will be gone by then? Target has an option of paying online and then picking up your order in the next few days. OK, let's do that. You can't do it as a "guest" there, need to open an account. No problem. Name: Annie Lit, address: 123 Main str, e-mail: AnnieLit@... , credit card: gave them number of a gift card. Done. Got a confirmation e-mail that said that I will have to follow the link and show the bar code from that site when picking up the order.

Next morning drove to the store.
- Hello, I need to pick up an order. Here is the bar code.
- Your ID, please.
- Em... I don't have it on me.
- Credit card you paid with?
- Don't have that either...
I really did not, because I forgot wallet in the car. But then it was not a credit card in the first place either.
- Sorry, I can't give you your order.
- But your website said that the only thing I need is the bar code!
- OK... Can I see it?
I opened the e-mail, followed the link, logged into my account, and showed him bar code for the only order I had there.
- Can I have your phone for a minute? I can't scan it from there.
- OK...
He took my phone, scanned the code, then scrolled up to the top of the screen.
- Your first name?
- Annie.
- Last name?
- Lit. Spelled L - I - T.
- Ok, I'll be right back with your order.

By that time I could hardly stop myself from laughing -- this was the first time I used this name in public. Somehow I imagined it will happen in a more dramatic situation, but picking up stockings will do too.
