How’s That Impeachment Going?

Refresh my memory, when exactly did McConnell and Graham state that they will break their oath of impartiality?

“There will be no difference between the president’s position and our position as to how to handle this,” McConnell told Fox News. That’s an upfront declaration that he has no intention of being impartial, even though all senators must swear ahead of an impeachment trial to “do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws. So help me God.”

McConnell can honor his oath of impartiality, or he can totally coordinate with the White House, but he can’t do both. That’s only the tip of the hypocrisy iceberg that lies ahead.

Lindsey Graham will not try to “pretend to be a fair juror” should Donald Trump face an impeachment trial in the US Senate.

Speaking at the Doha Forum in Qatar on Saturday, the South Carolina Republican and close Trump ally said he was “trying to give a pretty clear signal I have made up my mind. I’m not trying to pretend to be a fair juror here. What I see coming, happening today, is just a partisan nonsense.”

How to handle the proceedings going forward, Trump is a republican and Mitch is the republican senate majority leader.

That's not a declaration of anything. You dems have always set your alibis so that if a vote doesn't go your way you can scream from the highest building " see! he broke his oath". This isn't about a fair and impartial trial, this is about deposing a president at all cost, scorched earth at all cost!!

Every democrat senator on the campaign trail including the minority leader has voiced their conviction of impeachment and removal. So Mitch defending the process from the likes of that onslaught is fair.

Every democrat I've heard wants Trump impeached and removed, stage 10 TDS

McConnell can honor his oath of impartiality, or he can totally coordinate with the White House, but he can’t do both. That’s only the tip of the hypocrisy iceberg that lies ahead.

MSNBC talking point![/COLOR]Nothing says he can't do both!

Like the speaker going before the world calling Trump an imposter, he broke the law. Dirty play is only fair when its the democrats doing the bidding.

He believes like millions of other american that this whole impeachment deal is a sham. Dems have been calling for his impeachment before he was even inaugurated. Hillary lost and them dems are having a temper tantrum. Pubs are going to resist regardless of all you dems name calling. We don't want a socialist progressive authoritarian government. You dems are going to be sucking pond water in 2020.

The Durham report is due out which is going to expose what Obama's regime has been up to.

It's a staggering level of stupidity and partisan bias.

4 democrats should recuse themselves because of the potential for conflict of interest but multiple republican senators including Graham and McConnell have come right out and said they won't be impartial and that's just fine with these RWCJ mouth breathers.

What's there to be impartial about? No evidence of impeachable crimes have been put before the Senate. Now it's simply a case of abuse of House power awaiting a Senate disposition of dismissal. If there is a trial, and in the absence of any evidence of impeachable offense in the articles submitted against the President, it will be the Senate trying the House and their motivations.

I'm done debating the retarded for now.

Btw. I didn't like hilary then or now... but she testified under oath, get back with me when trump does the same...or hell, when any of his top aides do.

Refresh my memory, when exactly did McConnell and Graham state that they will break their oath of impartiality?

Direct quotes were made one month ago although each has said the same kind of thing in different ways multiple times both before and after that.

It's been all over the news. Except maybe on Fox.

You fucking moron. They have to take an additional oath to be impartial jurors.

How fucking stupid are you?

You're too stupid for words. Here is the oath Senators take before an impeachment trial:

"I solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be,) that in all things appertaining to the trial of the impeachment of , now pending, I will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws: so help me God."

So as we see, Dummy, the oath is to the Constitution and to the law, so what do you think happens with an impeachment case that alleges no actual crimes or violations of the law? What do you think happens to impeachment allegations that do not conform to the Constitution?:rolleyes:

Impeachment trial opens as watchdog says Trump broke law on Ukraine
Tom McCarthy in New York and Lauren Gambino and David Smith in Washington
The GuardianJanuary 16, 2020, 3:12 PM EST
As the Senate opened an impeachment trial in which Donald Trump will stand charged with abusing the power of his office, the president was hit with new allegations of wrongdoing by a federal watchdog agency.

The Government Accountability Office released a finding on Thursday morning that the suspension last year of military aid for Ukraine at Trump’s direction violated laws governing the disbursement of congressionally appropriated funds.

Trump caused the law to be broken, the agency found. The White House did not immediately respond to the allegation of criminality.

Show me the statute, idiot.

You're the idiot, but here it is:

Contempt of Congress
Primary tabs
Definition
Congress has the authority to hold a person in contempt if the person's conduct or action obstructs the proceedings of Congress or, more usually, an inquiry by a committee of Congress.

Contempt of Congress is defined in statute, 2 U.S.C.A. § 192, enacted in 1938, which states that any person who is summoned before Congress who "willfully makes default, or who, having appeared, refuses to answer any question pertinent to the question under inquiry" shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a maximum $1,000 fine and 12 month imprisonment.

Before a Congressional witness may be convicted of contempt, it must be established that the matter under investigation is a subject which Congress has constitutional power to legislate.

Generally, the same Constitutional rights against self-incrimination that apply in a judicial setting apply when one is testifying before Congress.

Republican Group Issues GOP Senators Blunt Reminder About Their Oaths

...The Lincoln Project demands in the caption for its video that Republican lawmakers “consider the impeachment charges against Trump on their merits” instead of simply taking sides along party lines.

Senators must uphold their sworn oaths to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” the project adds....

Hmmmmmm.....

Hey, stupid ass. He asked for the statute, try to keep up with the class, dudly.

Here is the second article of impeachment, try not to act like you understand it:

ARTICLE II: OBSTRUCTION OF CONGRESS

The Constitution provides that the House of Representatives “shall have the sole Power of Impeachment” and that the President “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors”. In his conduct of the office of President of the United States — and in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed —

Donald J. Trump has directed the unprecedented, categorical, and indiscriminate defiance of subpoenas issued by the House of Representatives pursuant to its “sole Power of Impeachment”. President Trump has abused the powers of the Presidency in a manner offensive to, and subversive of, the Constitution, in that:

The House of Representatives has engaged in an impeachment inquiry focused on President Trump’s corrupt solicitation of the Government of Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 United States Presidential election. As part of this impeachment inquiry, the Committees undertaking the investigation served subpoenas seeking documents and testimony deemed vital to the inquiry from various Executive Branch agencies and offices, and current and former officials.

In response, without lawful cause or excuse, President Trump directed Executive Branch agencies, offices, and officials not to comply with those subpoenas. President Trump thus interposed the powers of the Presidency against the lawful subpoenas of the House of Representatives, and assumed to himself functions and judgments necessary to the exercise of the “sole Power of Impeachment” vested by the Constitution in the House of Representatives

It was constitutionally done... and not up to you morons to decide it wasn't.
