The 70's called, they want their energy policy back.that is not where we get our oil. Yes if such a thing occurred the price of oil on the World Market will go up and then American consumers will need to compete, but the advantage economically in the scenario you describe would go to America because we would have the most abundant supply of energy vs. Other idustrialized nation. Your scenario is fairly limited since it's likely to get far worse than that since there's a decent chance we will wipe out the Iranian oil production capability.

There's this new thing called fracking I don't know if you've heard about it, also Obama's energy policies * are no longer in effect.

Funny how you people on the left can't seem to decide what your position is on fossil-fuel depending upon who's in office and who is or is not restricting the flow of oil. Why don't you guys have a meeting about that and get back to us?

A few effective google searches will prove that 22% of the World's oil does pass through that Strait. It is also easy to find that 11% of the US oil imports come from the Saudis. Then, if he was really creative, one could ask what port does the majority of Saudi oil exports leave by? One does not have to "stop" oil from flowing...but they have every right to stop every ship and inspect them. Is the US gonna escort every ship? Who pays for that? Nothing a few mines wont fix.

You should acquaint yourself with the subject matter before you chastise people for ignorance. The shipping lane in the strait is an international water way. Yes, the capability exist to escort each ship either by air or by sea. Canada, Mexico cover most of our shortages.
