New Lit Story Page Preview

I tend to upload my stories using Word documents. Is there a bug regarding centred, bold chapter numbers? I keep asking for them, but they never happen. It worked the first time, but it's never happened since. Is this a technical issue?

You have to currently use the <center><b>Chapter 1</b></center> tags for what you want to do. Then do not put a blank line between the chapter heading and the next line as the code used will place two line feeds for you.

Not directly related to the new story page, but why do entire scores get wiped out? I'm not talking about 1-bombs being swept but ANY score on a story. I often go back to a story I've read when it comes up on the Recent comments, and when I get to the end I don't see any score, even though I KNOW I've scored it. Again, these aren't ones, they're 3s, 4s and 5s.
Any suspect score gets deleted in a sweep, it's not just one-bombs.

There is also a lag in score counts as they show up in different places on the site. Your author's page is always current and will show a new score immediately, but the summary at the bottom of the story page updates on a different refresh cycle. Similarly, the rating on the category front page updates on another cycle. There are several different refresh cycles, so depending where you're looking, you'll see different scores.

I have tried, several times, to post a comment in reply to a reader on one of my stories. The box to write the comment is there, but there is no apparent way to actually submit it. The only option is the "add new comment" bar, which only cycles you back to where you started.

 Threaded comments aren't available yet. They're planned for version 2.0 of the story page according to what Manu has said. Right now, the comments work just as they do on the original story page. If you want to reply to someone, you have to leave a comment and @ them.

ETA: Ah, okay. I just woke up from a nap. LOL

Once you start typing in the comment box, the button below it that says "Post as..." changes from white to blue. Once it's blue, it becomes a submit button.

Thanks, I will try again.

Edit-your advice was correct, thanks!

There is an item missing on the new page... When you hover the cursor over the number of other people who have favorited your story, nothing shows up. ON the old page your would get a list of other users who liked your story.

Manu addressed this one a couple of pages back.

http://forum.literotica.com/showpost.php?p=91652562&postcount=99

It's currently lower priority to bring that feature back, but part of the road map.

Few people even know it did that on the old story page. Even then, it didn't show them all. You have to view the source code to see all of them once the number of favorites hits a certain threshold. The new plan will make them all available without having to use a tech work-around.

Thank you... I went looking for it but, didn't see anything shouting out at me.

Finally took a look. General point is I like it much better than the old format. The extra width is much easier on (at least) my eyes.

I was unaware of some of the features, such as being able to see the list of readers who'd made it a Favorite so don't miss that. I also have so few comments I don't need fancy handling.

By any chance, could we see a preview picture of the new Literotica story page and/or the new Hub?

Or is that still under construction?

In continuing to use the beta, I've realized to my dismay that the approx 60 character teaser is not visible anywhere on the page. Many authors have used that to show interesting/useful information about the stories they post. I'd request adding them back in somehow.

Maybe adding them as a separate line under the story title at the top of each story?

Perhaps adding a popup text when mousing over the various story suggestions on the right hand edge on the last page? Specifically, the "Read More of this Series" and the "Similar Stories" sections.

 It's the default tab of the "Story Information" box on the top right of the page on desktop, and just below the title when viewing in a mobile browser.

Are you not seeing it?

The 'Description' is also visible as always on both the New Story list and in the Author's story list. It seems to me that these are the most important places since the description plays a role in one's decision to read the story. False alarm ;)

These are great, and I had missed that it was up in the corner - thanks for the info, RR.

Having that there helps a ton within a series, but I'd love to see them before clicking back and forth between stories looking for the next story or series to read. I'm lazy like that. :)

If this has already been asked - ignore it:

Under the i (info) tab - could you also display the current rating?

Well, I'd like to know what the definition of a "suspect score" is, since EVERY time I look at a story I've read before no score shows, and I score every story I read.

I don't think you've ever been able to reply to a comment, other than sending a Feedback to the commenter, or posting a new comment referring to the original. Which, BTW, is why I hate Anons, because how do I respond to an Anon, when there are several? Yeah, I can refer to the title or whatever, but it's SO much easier to just say "Userid."

I'm not aware of a new hub, but if you go to your Control Panel you can turn on Beta testing, and then see how it looks. You can always turn it off afterwards.

The BETA story page now has font customization, a feature Lit readers have been requesting for a long time. :D

Please let me know if you find any bugs while using it.

Thank you. :D

I like the new font capability, and I like the rejiggering of the right hand bar when zoomed in, at least in Opera - when zoomed in to the width of the text, the right hand bar becomes a bottom addition to the story on the last page of the current submission. This works very, very well. No bugs found yet.

Thank you for the feedback.

The next update will likely make a change to the tablet view to make the single column view available on more devices. There is a question about where the single column should change to the wide screen sidebar version. Our goal now is to include most Kindle tablet devices and non-Pro iPads in the single column view.

What device are you using to lodge scores? Do you know for sure a score is being registered?

The site remembers the device IDs that I use, because I'll occasionally read a story, think it sounds familiar, and get to the end and find I've already voted on it.

There's no point asking about suspect scores - the site won't tell you (for obvious reasons).

That's tracked by your account if you're logged in while voting. If you log out, or log in with a different pen name, you'll see no vote registered, even if using the same device/browser.

Quite right - I forgot my own experiments back when I first joined, trying to figure out how voting worked. Sbrooks appears to have the opposite problem - the site is not remembering any of their votes; hence my question, what device is being used?

MANY thanks for your ongoing work in keeping this site alive. It's grown into more than just a "site" - it's become a culture, and has a life of its own.

Question, along similar lines to the story screen updates:

Are you planning any updates to the Android App?

My impression is that a LOT of people use that as the only way they read stories on LIT.
