In this category, please nominate the writer who affected you the most in 2019. Whose stories did you seek out and enjoy? Who made laugh/cry/etc.? Whose body of work most had an effect on you or your writing (if you're an author) this year?

Author must be an active Literotica author (meaning their account is still currently on Literotica – it has not been removed or cancelled) who submitted stories during the year 2019 (and those submissions must still be on the site).

One nomination per member, please. If multiple nominations are made by a member, only the first listed will count.

Please note that posts containing trolling, name-calling, and/or other forms of negativity will be removed. If you don't enjoy contests, that's fine - you are free to not participate. Please do not ruin everyone else's fun. :rose:

Thank you to all participants - readers and authors alike!

Without Salandar's stories, I likely would have never submitted Chapter 1 of my Hard Landing series. Her story, The Actress, and the denouement of her series The Mechanic, moved me, and prodded me to attempt my own series.

Amory Parks

She only submitted one story in 2019. I love her writing and the way she uses language. She wrote one on my favorite descriptions of a certain sex act (but it's from a 2017 story). And that same story inspired me to write they story I think of as my best, which currently has my highest score.

And here I was going to say that the most influential author for me was BrokenSpokes. Her Hard Landing story has gotten me closer to writing my own story than any other.

If influential means being around, writing since 2003, mentoring two generations of writers, writing great stories and finishing his epic novel "Lady in Red," HDK has to be considered for the award.

HDK is the man.

The fact that he's been active since 2003 is amazing, and I think he's getting a second wind. Plus, although many do not see it, he is not afraid to throw a truthful and helpful critique out there. I always read his critiques of my work and other writers' works because they help me as a writer.

I could also talk about the fact that he has had success in several categories, or I could point out that he thrives in LW -- the Lit version of the Wild West.

HDK has been around for many, many years, always writing great stories and mentoring other writers along the way.

blackrandl1958

blackrandl1958 published 13 times in 2019. Her high score was a 4.82 and her low score was a 4.44. Her low score was in a category that is notorious for difficult scoring and her high score was not for a second or later chapter, which bumps up scores. She published in at least four categories.

11 of those 13 stories have a red H. Seven have a 4.7 or higher.

In addition, she beta-read for other writers and organized three story events, each of which was extremely successful and rallied many fantastic authors to participate who wouldn’t have otherwise published. There is a separate category for editing, so I’m not sure if I should include this here, but it seems obvious that she has influenced other authors by her editing of dozens upon dozens upon dozens of stories.

It seems fairly obvious to me that she should be leading the pack when it comes to recognizing influential Literotica authors.

An ever-present source of support in the contest threads, a fine writer, a contest winner, and not afraid to range out to the edges for interesting elements as the genesis of a story.

I have to second this nomination, especially given Chloe's bravery to branch out into so many different genres, writing stories that may nor may not be in her wheelhouse, but she tries something new, learns and improves. I see her post in several different categories, and that really impresses me, as the normal writer (I find) stays in one category and rarely (if ever) strays from that. What I even find most unique is that every story I read explained the genesis/backdrop for the story, and while some would argue readers should figure out the "why," I find this a refreshing change and yet something that doesn't give the story away nor take away from its uniqueness.

I agree. I nominate Blackrandl1958. As an author her influence to other LIT authors is undeniable.

I would support this nomination for Blackrandi as most influential writer, not just for the quality of the writing, but the number of other brilliant and influential writers who ask her for voluntary editing and beta reading services, and her willingness to encourage writers to write themes often out of their comfort zones for events that turn out to be extraordinary in quality.

I know there is critical accusations that "invitational events" are elitist, but that selection process arguably brings out the competitive spirit amongst extraordinary writers so that every entry is of a high standard, ensuring a good buzz among readers who, I am sure, read virtually every single entry in her invitational events. I know because the entry list is always mouthwatering. She also organises "open" events, so everyone has an opportunity to shine, but I am not sure the open events creates the same buzz of excitement, or guarantees the same quality of entry across the board. If "open" events leads readers to self-censor and mostly only read "known writers", or those that emerge with higher scores, are they in fact really that open or helpful to the writer still trying to find their feet and audience?

As Bebop3 says, her events, while they may be exclusionary, encourage some of the best writers on Lit to write again, and to compare these great writers to "dogs that sit on command" says more about the poster than anything I can say.

I nominate Harddaysknight for the title of The Most Influential Writer, mostly because he's the author who has influenced me most.

Blackrandle

Not only her stories offer a different take on classic Loving wife plots, her work as an organizer is fantastic.

HardDaysKnight

Based on the number of authors whom I like, who cite him as influential in their writing. He has a deft way of incorporating humor in very serious subjects which I admire greatly, and wish I could duplicate. His characterization, especially in his later work, is exemplary.

My nomination

is SleeperyJim who has posted some thought-provoking stories, especially in his Conversations series.

Hard Days Knight

Great contributing author, but his comments are also spot on and helpful
