I live in Toronto: a city twice the population of Dallas, but with fewer than 100 murders a year. Explain.

There are old school gunslingers in Dallas, and it's hot there, and people's blood boils because they can't handle their alcohol in the hot sun, and then they pull out the Colt .45 and settle their arguments that way - whereas it's cold in Toronto and the only cowboys there are all on the Stock Exchange.

According to statistics the murder rate and gun violence in the GTA has been on the increase ( 2018=142 murders ) 53% increase, It could be an anomaly. Major crime has also increased in the last 4 years, good news is the decrease in murder rate in 2019. Been to Toronto many times and it is a beautiful city and considered by world opinion a safe place to live and a relatively low crime index as compared to other large metropolitan areas.

Milosevic is certainly not a hero. I think the take down of Milosevic was a coalition of several countries to stop ethnic cleansing, I think is was more a moral issue than political. I don't think we were forced into it other than a moral issue to stop senseless killing. Just my opinion.

Boris has been saying that once the UK is out of the EU they'll be looking at renewing the relationships with commonwealth countries as they were before the UK joined the EU back in the 1960's. By which, I suppose, he means he is going to relaunch the British Empire with the colonies sending their wealth back to mother England! Hahaha

Who knows with Boris what is real and what isn't. If they ever do extricate themselves from Europe they will certainly be looking to expand their trade base. As Ive said earlier, Boris has already mentioned greater reliance on the commonwealth.
I'm not sure the Brits are more conservative, my read is that there is a very strong anti immigration sentiment that spreads across the left and the right and Boris has tapped into that, and also, the British Labour Party has the same problem your Democratic Party has over finding a credible leader, something they've struggled with since tony Blair.
As for the £, I don't follow it. I wouldn't know what impact the election result had on it, or moving forward is likely to have.
