Old farts whine about the new generations because the new generation expect more for less (or what seems to be less) and the old dismisses the youngers form of hard work (mostly education and sitting behind a computer coming up with nine-figure algorithms) when compared to the more physical type of labor done by their parents.

Let's face it, new technologies have made life easier, they have also made making $$$ easier, unfortunately, its the morons on Youtube that get most of the publicity, and the under-informed who whine about Social Justice that gain traction in the news.

And there is probably a million other reasons too.
