Is there any way to do it? And if not, who should I ping to suggest it.

I have been looking over some older stories and the views to comments ratio is much higher than current stories. That got me looking for a way to comment from the smartphone app (Android). I can't seem to find any way to do it.

I wonder if this might be affecting the views to comments ratio.

No, it's favorites that have caused comments to steadily decline. I was doing close tracking of a lot of data at around the time favorites were introduced. The more favorite story slots were added, the more the # of comments declined.

People seem to prefer to leave a silent thumbs up that also gives them a convenient link back to a story they loved.

A lot of those favortings don't come with votes, either. I guess some readers think favoriting something is the same as voting favorably for it, which it isn't.

With the android app you can read the story and vote but, you can't comment, nor can you read comments.

That app also needs to be rewritten.

Thank you! There have been several times I have wanted to leave comments (both good and bad) and I have to go log into my PC and pull up a browser and at least 63.72% of the time it is just too damn much work. I've tried using the phone browser, but it is even more work.

I thought maybe there was some hidden icon I hadn't pressed or a secret menu I was missing.

OK. I'll just crawl back under my rock and grumble to myself.
