I won't have any effect on Russia - Russian Orthodox; China - Communist; Pakistan - Muslim; India - Hindu; Iran -Muslim; North Korea - despot; France - secular state; Israel - Jewish; so he can only be aiming at the UK and USA.

And the UK hasn't taken any notice of the Pope since Henry VIII.

The previous Papal action against crossbows and bowmen was aimed at England after the slaughter of French noblemen at Agincourt. Killing peasants was OK; killing noblemen who supported the Pope was wrong...
