Just wanted a place to talk.

I'll start with : Jeri Ryan is going to be in Picard, starting 2020

(Shame I won't have Amazon in my house)

I'm looking forward to it (Picard), I can't imagine they'd get so many of the TNG cast back if the story/script was shit.

I'm looking forward to season 2 of Altered Carbon when it comes out, the first series was fantastic.

Really looking forward to Picard. I grew up on Star Trek: The Next Generation so he is absolutely the pinnacle of a good captain and a good human being to me.

"Make it so!"

Was genuinely half expecting some sort of James McAvoy young Picard thing, so really fucking happy to see the trailer. Plus I've got Prime hijacked through the MiL so not even paying for it :cattail:

Altered Carbon was binged very quickly here, fantastic. Plus by one of my very favourite authors, Richard Morgan.

I'd never read any of his books, but the first season was so cool. Looking forward to seeing how Anthony Mackie shapes up.

Can't wait until January...

I started out with Trek on TOS reruns and the movies but TNG was a big part of my youth too. I can't wait to see how it works out. Picard IS Starfleet as it should be.

Oh, also looking forward to The Witcher too. Trailers look good.

TNG was my intro.
Watched DS9 and voyager as they happended pretty much. And I enjoyed enterprise (yes I did and I'm not sorry!)

Glad of the carbon recommendation.

Books wise I was recommended Ann Leckie. Struggled to get into it.

And I hear there is a new Terry Pratchett adaptation coming out. Has a female Vetinari, and cut-my-own-throat Dibbler is also played by a lady. I'm not saying it won't be good, but interesting spin on characters I read as male ?

My most exciting Picard fact from the horses mouth at Destination Startrek, is that Picard swears in the new series :cattail:

I should go to a convention

You should - they are a lot of fun. I wore a red trekkie dress... I had to sit on my coat so my Wonder Woman knickers weren’t visible to the folks sitting behind me... mixing my genres won’t do...

It’s not like me to dress up in something to be noticed in... I felt disproportionately proud but to be fair, I don’t think anyone was looking at my red trekkie dress... the mum and daughter doing a Vulcan wedding complete with weapons were far more eye catching than a fat woman in a badly made cheap dress :cattail:

I didn’t have brilliant seats because I didn’t pay the £3000 for the admiral tickets... I said this when I went a previous year. Gold diggers hanging around casinos are getting it wrong - get yourselves along to a Star Trek convention and look for the ill fitting James Kirk costumes and the admiral lanyards... more money than sense...

I went to a Star Trek convention in 1994 and it was already rife with commercialism. I can't imagine what it'd be like now. Maybe I don't want to, since I've always loved that Star Trek has done away with capitalist greed, etc. :)

Actually the brummie one isn’t too bad. There are super expensive tickets which gets breakfast with the stars everyday and the best seats and signed pics with all the guests...

The normal tickets aren’t too badly priced, and once in there is quite a bit of stuff for free including talks by astronauts, the European space agency, special effects experts, etc... the tickets for individual talks weren’t too badly priced and how often do you get to hear Sir Patrick Stewart talk about Picard live?... :cattail:

And I got a tribble which allowed me a lovely paired pic with planetbeats tribble

My girlfriend and I have been looking into getting to the one in Birmingham. It looks great. And yeah, it'd be amazing to hear Sir Pat Stew in the flesh! :D

Apropos of nothing: this'd be fun to do once, too!

Oh this is a cool wee thread to find, today as it is miserable outdoors I have binging on a bit of remastered Trek TOS, which I grew up with and was my intro to the genre along with Land Of The Giants and Lost In Space.

That's a lovely compliment. Thanks.

Nice guitar.

I'm a child of the A team, manimal, street hawk, air wolf, rip tide, fall guy, Knight rider.

As a kid I wasn't a Dr who fan (yes sorry) hulk was ok, and buck Rogers was cool.

X files and Buffy were later.

^^ all the above, are fantasies. The good guy will win in the end.

Oh I love Star Trek! I'll admit that I've not watched much TOS, but I've watched all of TNG, DS9 and VOY (and own them on dvd/blu ray) several times. I also like the new series and are really looking forward to Picard. So far DS9 is my favorite.

Have any of you watched Red Dwarf?

I'm curious to see where Discovery is going to go this season. And, I am of course looking forward to Picard. Obviously we won't be seeing L'Rell or Harry Mudd or Lorca (he may be around) or Gregoriou.

Is anyone else excited by the prospect of a Captain Pike series? Every scene he was in last season on Discovery, in the back of my mind I was reminded that Pike is doomed, no matter what. Now he knows it too, yet he goes on. Amazing. (Anson Mount is a very talented actor). The last "short Trek seems to be a teaser for that possibility.

Oh yes Red Dwarf, pure genius :D

Would also love to see a Pike series developed, get on it CBS, Anson Mount was amazing as Pike, in fact probably saved Discovery from cancellation.

Red dwarf you to season 10 I think. There are 2 new seasons I've not seen... Anyone want to tell me I should get them?

And maybe the world needs a mash up. Red dwarf arriving in the star trek universite with buck Rogers sidekick Twiki?

Ohh I forgot one of my favorite show: Firefly!!

I thought it was fun to watch the last two season of red dwarf

I have a few others I like:

Torchwood
Doctor Who
Fringe
Taken

I think her case might be full of toys? (Nice butt plug!)

Aw, thank you kindly! It's one of my favourite toys, so I enjoy getting a chance to use it when I can! :rose:

Also love Red Dwarf and Torchwood (though the last season, Miracle Day, was a bit ropey), and Firefly was great! :)
