I am thinking if getting this done. (Small hoops)

I read that it could cause nipple growth.

Guys, if you got yours pierced, did your nipples grow any? I like mine the size they are.

Are barbells better than little hoops? Does it matter?

Ladies, what do you think about a man (in good shape) with pierced nipples?

Thanks for the insight.

pierced...

Got both of mine pierced 15 years ago... my nipples were very small.. and they only got slightly bigger, but not from the original 14 gauge jewelry. I gradually stretched them to a 6 gauge. I usually wear barbells, only downside is that they can catch on things, couple times I thought I tore my damn nipple!! Hoops are safer in that regard

So you think, if I go with a small gauge, I should see little change?

Mine didn't grow, even when stretched to 8 gauge. For healing, which will run into months, choose titanium barbells, which will move around less, and are non-allergenic. Some people are allergic to nickel, which is a constituent of stainless steel.

If you are active, and at all inclined to carrying anything with straps, expect problems: they will snag constantly. I finally gave up.

Yes, I am very active in the spring/summer time. I do calisthenics.

I like the look of the rings versus the barbells. Are the rings that much worse?

Just during the healing period. You don't want your jewelry moving around and disturbing the fistula. After it's all healed and toughened up, rings are fine.

Backpacks will always be a problem. ;)

Yea, I wear backpacks often. (thats how I carry my groceries home). I'll just have to be careful.

After some more research, I think I would go with straight barbells at first, then change them out later for D-rings.

Now, just need to see when I can bring up the topic with my SO.
Tough to bring the conversation up. Don‘t wanna just ‚do it‘ first.

I've had mine 2.5 years...wife and I got ours done together; both with captive bead rings (hoops).

Big mistake on the hoops. Seemed like it would aid in cleaning/ healing, but the hoops are SOOOOOOO much easier to accidentally move! Flip a hoop upside down or rotate it when the openings are crusty? Holy hell.
They both have their drawbacks, but the wife switched hers to barbells after 6 months or so. I soldiered on with the bothersome hoops a few months longer. Hers healed right up, mine seemed to stall until I finally went to straight. Gotta get them long enough to allow room to clean them well, or stuff will build up there and get really angry in a hurry.

Since healing, I revisited the circular (semicircle or horseshoe shape) barbells, because I prefer the look. They went right back to being irritated.

That said; I have rather large, deeply pierced nips, so they go through about 5/8" of flesh. Most hoops aren't much bigger, so the radius is the issue with me. on pencil eraser nips, they may work well.
Yes, mine got bigger; both in protrusion and seemingly in diameter.

I appreciate all the good info. I'm getting mine done next summer do all the advice I can get is great. Super question!

They are great till: Your dog is excited to see you gets his front paws caught on the hoops and pulls them out on accident.:(

Oh, yes...the dog had to be quickly retrained to not greet me with paws on my chest!

And always, ALWAYS cover the boob with one hand while using the poof thing in the shower. Fuck, that's bad.

Gotta learn to pull off t shirts differently.

I work construction, so I wore a sports bra the first month or two. Otherwise, they were always getting bumped in a bad way.

well, I guess for me to end the thread with an update.

I got them pierced about mid-December. The piercings were not in the best place. More through the areola than the nipples. After 4 hours, I removed them.

I let them heal for 3 weeks, then got them pierced again. It hurt just as much as the first time. hehe But these were placed perfectly. The length of the barbells were also sized perfectly. 14 gauge x 10mm. Not sure of the ball size.

I had them in for 4 weeks with no issues. The 4th week was nice. They did not bother me or interfere with activities much at all.

My wife finally saw them and had a fit. After her bitching and complaining for 2 days, I removed them. Very saddening. The holes sealed up nearly instantly. Did not do any further cleaning/salt solutions.

It has been 3 weeks since then. My nipples may grown a wee bit since the piercings, but nothing alarming at all.

If I ever get the chance to get it done again, I would. Despite knowing the pain. It is over quickly enough.

thanks for the insight you all have given me.

OK...one more time.

Well, after 8.5 months I was finally able to convince myself and my SO, that this was my one body and I felt like if piercings is what I really wanted, then that is what I plan on getting done (again).

So after a nice long discussion with my SO, she came to an understanding and that she perhaps needed to view things more openess (and not so old-fashioned).

End of October, I went in to the same studio and had my nips repierced. It hurt every single bit as much as the first 2 times! But the excrutiation pain only lasts for maybe 3 or 4 seconds at best.

The healing process is going great so far. I was/am taking a prescription to reduce inflammation (sports injury), so I think this is helping keep the swelling down. Very little swelling and it is still not a week old yet.

Best of all....I keep them! SO is not really pleased about it, but accepts it.

2 ladies customers at the studio said they liked the look of them. (and also my bod. nice for ego)
