Indeed. My Karma ran over his dogma long ago. :)

Seriously, the Bible is little more than a morality guide, as is the Quran, the Hindu Gita, Buddhist teachings and Shinto doctrine.

One does not need religion to live an ethical life.

Don't forget that character is what one does when no one is looking. It's worked well for me.

If you're using the bible as a morality guide I'm not cool with you as a person. Also, you're not allowed to touch me, where I was born a sin. You'll get sin germs all over you and might not be able to get into heaven.

If I'd been born in most time periods after Christianity took hold in Europe they'd have given me a letter to wear so you'd know that, but now I can just GETCHA!

Sounds like you are an intolerant Liberal to me. I thought Liberals believed in tolerance. COEXIST...Right? I guess that's only for people who agree with you.

I think you misunderstood him. He said that people who conform to the Bible aren't allowed (according to the Bible) to touch him, which makes them the intolerant ones.

But that's not true. The Bible says nothing about touching a person.

Exactly. I was born a sin (rather than committing sins I literally am a sin), so if you're a Christian you're not allowed to touch me, or have me touch you. It also unsactifies the whole-ass church if I go in it.

Back in the day they'd have given me a scarlet letter so you'd know not to touch me or let me in the church least I sin it up for everyone. But they stopped doing that, so now we walk among you.

-5 year old voice- I'm not touching you. I'm not touching you.
-Old-school Christians- Gooooooood, Candi's touching me!

There’s more evidence that you haven’t read the Bible.

Holy fuck did he actually say that? That's not even like... you oughta be able to pick that up culturally. The fuck does he think the cultural meme of pointing and screaming, "UNCLEAN' means?? Did he not have to read The Scarlet Letter in high school? Does he not know what a fucking nunnery is?? Like all the stories of pregnant folks getting shipped off to nunneries? Why does he think "bastard" is an insult?

This goes beyond not reading the book. He oughta been able to absorb that via cultural osmosis.

Nah, man, if you're a real Christian, You can't touch this.

I know that I am on ignore but I might as well give my two sense worth. No matter the circumstances regarding your conception or birth you are not a sin. The family member who said not nice things about it was wrong. We are all sinners but you are not a sin. And as my mother says who("gives a rats ass") about the cultural norms. My mom had a thing about rats.....well ..... What do you want to be a Kardashian?

The thing that frustrates me in discussion threads like this - the side against Christianity - wants to live only in the Old Testament. Show me in the New Testament that Jesus did not heal the blind man by touching him. That he did not touch the woman at the well. That people did not touch the hem of his garment to be healed. Etc. Etc. What about the man he touched who had Leprosy. He would touch you (appropriately:eek:). I would give you a hug (again appropriately:)) but I guess that won't be.

I don't think you are the devil in the church who needs to be shot dead. That song made me sad. Terrible things happen but what you described earlier in this thread is not on you it is on those who did it. My brother got so drunk and high that he didn't even realize it was his sister that he was raping. That is on him. Not me. It wasn't too long ago that girls who were raped were labeled by culture as having asked for it. Bull crap to that. Culture was wrong.

Forget the culture. Meet my friends. They would welcome you and we could go get a pizza or something.

Skillet- not my usual listening. Kids like them. Might replace your being in pain and gun one. I don't like to see you hurting. Saw Skillet when I went with the kids to a concert that had many artists. Let me tell you the girl can drum. (Have I got a hero for you! Guess who;))

It's buckwild to me that these folks go with, "Who hurt you?"

Nobody. I just read the book and you're just wrong about this. Jesus specifically said several times that letting the traditions laid out in Leviticus and Deuteronomy die was a sin and would knock you out of his grace. This is the flaming sword flipping tables guy.

I'm not pissed about not going to heaven- it's just a fact. I'm not, and if you hug me, you're going down with me.

Also, if were going "Jesus part" not only does touching me fuck you up, but THINKING about touching me fucks you up. Because Jesus added thought crime. Because he's hardcore af.

You can't have read the book and say this kind of shit. That's what kills me about you people. It's not who hurt me- it's who hurt you? Who hurt you bad enough that you need to believe bullshit enough to cripple your reading comprehension?

I don't have leaporcy. I don't HAVE anything. The reason laid out in the bible for my thing that you're not getting is that this isn't something I've done, it's something I am. I, myself, am a curse, a sin. If Jesus tried to cast it out of me, I'd literally crumble to dust because according to the bible I only exist to be a curse. It's not like being born crippled, it's like being born TO cripple. I am a curse visited upon my father for his sin. Your god specifically created me for the express purpose of having a physical representation of that sin. That's how that works. For ten generations. If you don't believe that, you're not a real Christian. You're what's called a, "Cultural Christian". That's where you read the bible through a cultural interpretation, or you don't read it at all and just listen to a cultural interpretation through a false prophet.

Jesus specifically warns against that.

But yeah, according to the Bible, women are property and if you break it you buy it. That's just how it is. You not liking these things doesn't magically make them not your God's stance.

And me saying that is not a stance against Christianity. It's just true facts about Christianity that you think are unethical. So you think Christianity is unethical, but you don't want to say that, so you have to project that onto me.

I think it's funny as hell because the vast majority of Christians do absolutely believe this. Until the rise of secularism I couldn't even inherit property. It was baked into our laws. So living in the Bible belt as I do this is a running gag for me. Somebody can get all high and mighty about how much Jesus loves them, and I can take it all away by putting a hand on their shoulder.

It's hilarious.

But it's funny because it's true.

Also, nothing terrible happened. By all accounts my conception was a fun time for everyone involved.

Definitely not worth comparing to your actual trauma.

Sin, by definition, is not a person but an action. Sin: an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law. God creates all humans in his image. He did not create sin. However, he did give his human creations the ability to choose and we have not always made the best of decisions. What I don't think people want to admit is that our actions have consequences even to the extent that it hurts people who are innocent. That is the price we pay for having choice. You are not a curse.

I would like to know the reference that you have to state that Jesus said you were a sin and that you couldn't be touched or touch someone and all these claims you make. Edited: I think I found parts of what you were alluding to. I would like to discuss it with you.

It's interesting to me that you basically call the Christian faith hogwash but then you acknowledge there is a heaven and you won't be allowed to go there. Even most non - Christians understand that the Christian faith centers on........wait for it...........Christ!
Why did he come? Did it say he came for everyone but Candicame and Kathy? No it says he came for everyone. He will not only touch you but he will leave a part of himself through the Holy Spirit to help you along the way.

I find it mind boggling that you gave a long speel about what I believe, why I believe it, and what I think. You don't even know me or my journey to where I am today. Please don't speak like you do.

You want to go to Heaven......Choose it........If you want to get rid of any burdens.....choose it........If you want to be the generation that stops the affects of a long ago sin for someone else.....Choose it. Although I would love to have you as a brother in Christ, you have to make that decision to choose Christ.

I really hope you will share the references with me.

Good points! :D

Incorrect. I'm saying that in the fictional universe presented in the Bible, I wouldn't be allowed to go there. In the same way that in the fictional universe of the Harry Potter series, I would be sorted into the Slitherin house at Hogwarts, according to the various quizzes I took to that effect, and I mean, that also just checks out. I likely would be sorted into Slytherin. But now Rowling has fucked up her whole cannon so... god she cashed the check already. Why's she keep beating that dead horse?

According to in-universe cannon, by the logic of the book. Not in the really real world where it's not a real thing that anybody can do.

That is the problem sometimes with posts and texts. You can't hear the tone and inflection to help you decipher the clear meaning in a sentence or what the person intended.

What are you doing this weekend? I am going to my college age son's half-time Marching Band performance in the last football game of the year. Unfortunately the team is 1-9. Here in the mid-west we have been breaking records for how cold it is. With all the rain in the spring, crops got planted late, and some farmers are harvesting even after a snow. I am afraid I am going to freeze my ta ta's off. Enjoy yours and be safe.:rose:

My plan is, "Not a goddamn thing," but I almost never get to do that. So let's play the most popular game show in CandiLand, "Who's gonna make me do some bullshit?"

So far I'm winning. :D

LOL:D. Just an update because I know you were waiting on baited breath to see how the game went. Band grade A. I still have my ta ta's. Actually, it was 45 degrees which is really close to short weather in the mid-west. My son actually wore shorts to supper. I did teach him how to dress but what do I know, right? Game outcome: we are now 1-10.

Hey, shouldn't you be doing something?;)
