Looking for an editor for a chapter of my romance story

I'm looking for an editor or proofreader for a chapter (or more than one if so desired) of my romance story, Eighteen.

There is teenage sex (18 year olds) and group sex (ffm) in this chapter.

This chapter is just over 9,800 words, and written in the first person, present tense from the POV of a the male protagonist (except for a small portion - ffm - written from the female POV). The story is being adapted from an unpublished novel I wrote, that I’m about half way into it.

I'm looking for someone who will check for typos, wrong words used, tense usage, missing words, and grammar mistakes.

Word is being used to spell check and for Text-To-Speech, while Grammarly is being used to check for grammar mistakes. The Chicago Manual of Style (17) is being used as a style guide.

I can provide the narrative in just about any format desired (Word, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, and Google Doc - on my Google Drive - seem to be the most preferred).

While I'm not looking for assistance in writing the story, I’m very open to suggestions and changes that may be presented.

Thank you for your consideration!

Glad you found a proofreader. Is it usually hard to find one, or take a long time?

It certainly can be. There are plenty of members that are willing to help out. But we all want to try to use as much of our free time for own stories. And this is a particularly bad time for most in terms of free time. Winter contests, side contests like the Ogg de Pastiche, and of course the widely publicized NaNoWriMo (world wide outside Lit) are running. Plus major holidays are encroaching, so I'm sure that can't help people's day-to-day.

People are still willing. Just a bit tougher to allocate resources this time of year for some of them.

What SynSlave wrote.

I have gone through a number of editors and proofreaders because their schedules get too busy to continue. Granted, my story has many chapters and I can’t expect someone to be able to commit their free time for the whole project. I’m very thankful for those that have helped and when I have to find another person, I will use the editor contact screen and this forum. The longest I’ve had to search was about a week before someone responded.

I’m not quite sure how reliable the editor contact function works though...I’ve checked the box to send me a duplicate email of what I sent to an editor, and never received anything. On one occasion, I saw the editor active in the forum and PM’d them. They said they never received my request and to email them directly.

Keep trying :)
